No matter what students bring to future "show and tells" at Orchard Junior School in the Southampton area of England, they will never be able to top this year's spectacle that shut down and evacuated the school.
One bonkers little tyke brought in a bit of vintage "unexploded ordinance" to show his mates.
The school quickly evacuated all the students, called the police, and texted the parents:
Schools are being closed & evacuated - please collect your child from Noadswood field ASAP.
Imagine getting that little note in the middle of the school day.
Laura Holloway, a mother of one of the students was at work at the time. She said,
It was so worrying. Another parent had called saying there were police everywhere. I knew my youngest would have been so scared.
But, she added:
Both schools seemed to deal with it all very well and had the kids lined up and checked off - it must have been very upsetting for everyone involved.
Once the students were out, the police showed up and sent in the bomb squad.
The police's full statement said: ‘We were called at about 1.30pm to a report that a child had brought what may have been a potentially unexploded ordnance to Orchard Junior School.
‘The school was calmly evacuated and a disposal team attended to take the item away to be destroyed as a precaution.'
Not an easy task by any means.
The real question everyone wants to know is "What kind of ‘historic incendiary device' are we talking about here?"
This is England after all. They've been blowing stuff up and getting blown up for centuries.
It could've been anything from a 16th-century mortar to a WWII hand grenade to that morning's beans on toast.
Good morning. Sorry you had trouble sleeping!
Thanks, but I’ll sleep very well tonight! And probably wish I hadn’t by Wednesday! I’ll be like a zombie trying to get regulated again.
I have some errands to run tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to them, but that’s OK. They have to be done and there’s no one else but me to do them. Chip would, but he can’t reach the pedals.
I left a message for me sister an hour ago, and *crickets* so I’ll try Facebook.
Smoked a French rib pork roast over the weekend. Was delicious. Worked on some stuff around the house and went to a demo at the local Harley Davidson dealership on Saturday. Was kinda neat...
Went to be with a migraine last night though... Not a great nights sleep and had a client start hitting me up an hour before my work day was supposed to start...
Happy Monday...

Great! I just had lunch and now I’m hungry.
Ain’t that the truth??
To make it worse for you, sorry, I had leftovers today...
Eating my greek yogurt as a dessert...
Pork roast sounds yummy!
Good morning. Happy Twosday!
We still have cold weather. The highs sometimes fluctuate into the 30s but mostly are staying in the 20s. But we don’t have much snow on the ground. I won’t complain about that because it means I don’t have to go over to M-I-L’s to shovel.
M-I-L still seems to be having trouble sleeping at night. She had a really bad night Friday night, then 2 good nights, then a moderatly bad night last nigh. Of course, the person on duty was the same person Friday night and last night. She’s feeling cursed.
Tough Wordle for me today.

Cute!
Good morning. Did you have a good night?
I knew I’d sleep in today. It happens on Tuesdays. I probably won’t sleep much tonight, but I’ll try to be busy enough that it wears me out.
I dreamed about FS and shiny big diesel trucks and woke up with my knees hurting several times.
Nice Wordle!
One of my BILs is flying up to Rochester MN for a training course today… he is prepared to be shocked by the cold!
I wouldn’t have wanted to get out of bed either. But maybe -10 means it’s a good day for you to play the lottery. 😜
I just got curious and asked ChatGPT how many Worlde words are left. From the original list, there are a little over 1,000 more words to go.
Of course, we don’t know how the Slimes might have modified the list.
That’s encouraging. I think! So three more years of being stumped! Good deal!
Hmmm, a few more years left. .. seems reasonable…
Yep, getting up late was no guarantee that the day was going to be lazy, and it wasn’t. I went to the bank to get laundry quarters, and then went to brunch with Annette.
She has been talking about Main Street Cafe, for a very long time, so that’s where we went. She actually wanted me to ride into St George with her and have brunch there, some place, but I just wasn’t in the mood for a long trip and a short lunch and having my day messed up more than it was.
The brunch could have been good, but it seems every place in town that serves a breakfast burrito has to make them bigger and filled with more than the next guy. This thing was 4” across, at least and probably 9” long and the only good thing was it had avocado and sour cream as well as sausage. But I had to bring the other half home.
I also didn’t eat lunch because I was still so full from breakfast! So tomorrow, I’ll eat the rest of it for lunch...and add more avocado and more sour cream! :o]
Annette said she needed to take me there for their lunch menu and their supper menu. OK. But I’ve been out of the loop so long that I didn’t realize how expensive things have gotten.
And I managed to take the trash out, too, so that was a bonus!
We had an Envirothon trip this morning, followed by nap, then Kathleen’s art class.
At least you leftovers!
