Elle Macpherson reveals shocking reason for divorce from billionaire Jeffrey Soffer: ‘Straw that broke the camel’s back’

Supermodel Elle Macpherson says the controversial decision to treat her breast cancer diagnosis “holistically” led to the end of her marriage to billionaire Jeffrey Soffer. The Australia-born beauty, 60, made the bombshell claim in her new memoir, “Elle: Life, Lessons and Learning to Trust Yourself.”

The couple, who tied the knot in 2013, were still married at the time that the model was diagnosed in 2017.

Macpherson refused chemotherapy from 32 doctors, revealing that her decision took a toll on her marriage. “My diagnosis of breast cancer, followed by my final choice of Dr C’s holistic approach to recovery… was not one that Jeff could trust or feel at ease about,” she candidly wrote.

He divorced her because she was in menopause and had cancer. He didn’t want to deal with it regardless of the treatment.

“I wouid never agree to chemo if I get cancer.”

I had breast cancer 11 years ago and decided I wouldn’t have chemo. Mastectomy, yes. Chemo, no.

Now they’re saying positive things about ivermectin to prevent — maybe cure — breast cancer.

I agree, the context is important.

I don’t know which choice I would take if confronted with a choice of traditional chemotherapy or some other treatment, but I feel pretty sure my wife would support me even if she disagreed with my choice. And I would support hers.

But with the life of an unborn child in the womb, it isn’t just her life anymore.

If she were handcuffed to another human being of any age, and decided to do herself in by jumping off a cliff (taking the other person with her against that person’s will) it would be murder. (I think we are all nodding our heads vigorously in agreement)

She had “intraductal carcinoma” (a.k.a. DCIS).

That means the cancer was Stage 0. It wasn’t invasive, yet.

So, her decision to forgo chemo sounds reasonable.

I had a senior softball friend who is in the Michigan USSSA hall of fame who battled cancer in the last couple years of his life. Ignoring the advice of his friends and family to see an Oncologist, he chose the holistic approach which did him no good......

If it weren’t for chemo back in the 1980s, I wouldn’t be here.

My good friend treated his prostate cancer holistically. He’s dead now.

Congrats on having the fortitude to tolerate chemo treatment. I hope never have to decide about chemo.
I have alread lived a full life in my mid-80’s. I have gone through small pox, gall bladder attacks, nausea from food poisoning. Nausea was the worst!

I did too! It changed the way I look at chemo/radiation treatment. It’s gonna be a big no for me. The family member that developed cancer decided to go aggressive. Life did not exist for that person outside of doctors offices medications, pain and puking. It only prolonged their existence by maybe a year and a half. I say existence because there was no real life. The chemo and radiation did more damage than had the cancer taken them away.

Her decision is hers, what gets me is the idea a marriage would be over because your husband would prefer you have chemotherapy.

Unfortunately for many, alternative medicine can take on a religious type fanaticism. It isn't just something for them, they insist those around them also embrace it and become immune to all contradictory facts.

Basically he was not allowed to disagree with her.

She divorced him. Pretty sure he would have stayed married to her and just resigned himself to her decision he didn’t agree with.

Its the belief in it. They cant have anyone who doesn’t believe it around them, it a stressor. They may believe something right, or wrong, either way they just get all opposing stuff out of their life/heads.

I know lots of people that is the case for. I know it can be rough, but it’s better than ever now. It’s annoying to see this modern pious thing where people pronouncement the would never take it.

My daughter might have breast cancer, and she’s already told me she’s not going to do chemo. If I get cancer, I’m not going to do chemo either.

“And what is the state of her health today I wonder?”

my first thought: did her “holistic” approach cure her cancer?
