Officer is doing an "animal welfare check" on the dogs and kills all of them.

Seems like Roscoe P. Coltrane did not fully understand the assignment now did he?

He had only been working for this police department for a month when he did this.

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, TBI agents obtained warrants for Brackin, charging him with seven counts of aggravated animal cruelty and eight counts of reckless endangerment.

He turned himself in and resigned.

What the heck is going on with this guy... wonder where he previously worked?

It makes me sick that they arrested and then released him. I get arresting and releasing for some type of accidental incident or something that happened in the heat of the moment but this guy methodically went about what he was doing shooting one by one.

What kind of dogs were they? Were they secure behind a fence or in the house?
Were they out roaming the streets?

There’s too many unanswered questions.

Is this a tragic and malicious example of “swatting” where animals were endangered and killed, instead of the family, because the owners were not at home? Seems like the person “reporting” the false info shouldn’t get to remain anonymous. Let them publicly defend why they called police and said those things and triggered this.

In dog terms, 7 dogs equals 1 human

Roscoe P. Coltrane actually loved dogs. On the other hand, the deputy in this article appears to be one of the sick kind who just can’t wait to shoot something, anything.

The dogs were sick and malnourished (well, not really) so we shot them. STF??? You got a problem with that?

Cops earning the hate, one qualified immunity crime at a time.

Ol’ Roscoe tried to put them Duke Boys in prison a time or two, but he never shot a dog.

The deputy is psycho man.

“He graduated from the training academy in September 2022. In less than two years, his personnel file shows an administrative summons with allegations from two different shootings. A statement from a hearing in May 2024 says Brackin “did not shoot the subject and was merely returning fire to the area where he observed a muzzle flash and the sound of gunfire.” It was recommended he undergo remedial training.

The second incident, less than two months later, ended with someone dead. The TBI said the local district attorney called them in to investigate the shooting from March 2023.

In May 2024, the end of Brackin’s probationary period, “Chief Corley found it was in the best interest of the community, the City of Jackson, and the Jackson Police Department to not retain Officer Brackin as a police officer.” Brackin resigned a day later.

Five months later, Brackin was hired to work for the McNairy County Sheriff’s Office.”

My neighbor had 4 dogs. Their house is 1400 square feet, the yard is smaller. They were out all night every night barking There was a Great Dane who charged the fence. My kids could bring their friends outside the dogs would scream bark. 105 degrees out there

3 to 4 AM with the freight train they’d yell bark. Their owner would yell at anyone asking kindly to keep the dogs in so the kids could, if not study, just go to school with a few hours of rest sleep they might want to get grades and go to college, have a future one day

Tge owners were as nice to the dogs as they were to everyone else

I wonder whatever happened to those dogs. I don’t think anyone shot them.

I am not anti-cop, but truth is, there is almost no situation that can't be made worse with the addition of police.

I am going to admit that growing up the the country in the 70’s, I killed far more than my share of dogs. I never went on other peoples property and just randomly killed any.

If a dog was going after and killing my chickens, he got a lead snack. If he threatened any member of my family or me, he got a lead snack.
