You have an excellent memory, and good hearing.
Today if the president got shoot, a significant portion of the company wouldn’t care.
The thing that always gets me is that Cronkite and all of the news people just *knew* a “Right-Winger” killed Kennedy. They were blaming everything from The John Birch Society and racist Southerners for the killing.
In a way, that’s why I think all those conspiracy theories started, to take attention away from the fact that a Commie did it.
I was 13 and in the eighth grade but it was what was called parent/teacher conference day, so I was out of school for the day sitting at the counter of a local restaurant having a cup of hot chocolate when a reporter interrupted the music on the radio behind the counter to announce that Kennedy had been shot. I ran home and turned on the TV set and like everyone else at that time, was glued to the TV set for the next three days, watching Oswald being shot on live TV, JFK’s funeral and all the rest.
.
LOL!
I ‘heard’ what I remember that I was TOLD about the events of that day.
I don’t remember hearing the events as they were transpiring!
I know, I just loved the way the words came out for the description though, a great early morning laugh.
One of the worst days in American History. America moved sharply Left. JFK COULD NOT WIN ANYTHING IN TODAY’S DEMOCRAT PARTY. Trump is nadicly where he was.
I was in eighth grade and after lunch our teacher asked us to sit as he had shocking news that President Kennedy had been shot. He arranged to have a radio so we could listen to the news reports before we had an early dismissal.
Sorry but I decline to join the cry fest over the drug addled whore monger who cheated his way into everything and was in Texas because he was so unpopular that even LBJ could not steal it for him this time.
We hardly knew where a country called Vietnam was located, but we all were about to figure that out.
He was the one who cause all of that you moron.
The assassination of the President would be the Nation's singular most tragic event until September 11, 2001.
BS.
For my generation, November 22, 1963, was the day we all grew up a bit.
Considering you still believe in fairy tales I would say you did not make it beyond age three.
Of course it did.
But people have been trained to cry on cue about the druggy so they do.
Army PFC in Frankfurt Germany.
The left turned JFK into their George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, Mother Theresa, and Joan of Arc all rolled into one great idealist President who would have made America a dreamy utopia if he had only gotten that second term in office.
It was probably one of the most effective propaganda programs of history and gave his brothers extraordinary power that endured through legislation and Senator power through to 2009 and that has survived to some degree in lessor offices with other Kennedys.
Cuba went communist because of him, World War 3 nearly happened because of him, the Vietnam War happened because of him, the fed bureaucracy became an entrenched monster because of him but hey he signed a tax cut so every republican should worship him.
Pah!
JFK was a mediocre President who made a few good speeches, like the "I am a jelly doughnut" speech in Berlin...thanks to talented speechwriters.
I think the first time anyone referred to the Kennedy Administration as Camelot was after the assassination.
I had just turned four and I don’t remember anything.
It happened less than 30 miles away from me.
Castro came to power in Cuba in 1959 when Eisenhower was President. Whether a more competent US President than JFK could have freed Cuba from his dictatorship is something we will never know.
John pulled their support when (actually probably because) they were winning.
And after that Castro took over the whole shooting match thanks to his good friend in the white house.
“The assassination of the President would be the Nation’s singular most tragic event until September 11, “
“Singular”...as we see it:
1. Pearl
2. Civil War
