It’s time to make your echo chamber great again.
In 2024, that means curating your world to exclude those who voted for the 45th and, now, 47th president, Donald J. Trump.
Especially if those voters are close friends or family members — slap the ban on them. Just say no to sharing a plate of Thanksgiving yams with your Trump-supporting aunt, even if she voted for Obama twice and Hillary in 2016.
It’s the doctor’s orders!
Last Friday, MSNBC’s resident Chicken Little, Joy “Democracy is Falling” Reid, welcomed to her show Yale psychiatrist Dr. Amanda Calhoun — who dished out a prescription for festering bitterness and loneliness.
“There is a societal norm that, if somebody is your family, that they are entitled to your time, and I think the answer is absolutely not,” Calhoun told Reid when talking about how to interact with Trump voters.
“So if you are going into a situation where you have family members, where you have close friends, who you know have voted in ways that are against you, against your livelihood, it’s completely fine to not be around those people and to tell them why.”
Isn’t that what Festivus is for? To get together and air your grievances — the operative word being “together.”

“I bet your mom was smiling down from Heaven!!!!!”
I know she was! And so were her sisters with her, all so happy about the wonderfulness of all their children being 100% MAGA patriots — and Christians, of course.
removing all libs from your life is a sure fire way to improve your life.
There are vids surfacing of women promoting using “Aqua Tofana” to poison their Trump supporting husbands or boyfriends. Lovely!
They’ve been thoroughly indoctrinated. Now they’re acting it out. It’s a shame we’ve got this kind of fanaticism.
But she's ¡black! So we must believe her!
Either one is with the Lord, or one is not. Choices often have sad results; but one chooses obedience to the Lord, not the flesh, even affection for friends or family members.
“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. And a person's enemies will be those of his own household.
—Matthew 10:34-36 ESV
I don't understand what you mean by pragmatics, but I dumped a few who were projecting evil intentions onto me—if I was a Trump supporter, I must be guilty, even though my actions were just the opposite of their accusations. For instance, during his 2016 campaign, I was picking up one of my remaining Democrat friends from her meeting to go out to dinner. She brought a stranger (to me) out with her and asked me to drive the person home—a male-to-female transgender. I said "Sure; hop in.”
He/she sat next to me in the passenger seat and I made polite conversation while asking which way to turn here and there to his/her destination. Afterward at dinner, my friend accused me of bigotry towards trans people “because Trump...”
There's no use even talking to idiots like that, even though she had been my roommate and bridesmaid and we'd been friends for 50 years. After a couple of other incidents like that from her, I sent her a “Dear Jane” letter.
Thanks. I’ll have to read that in kjv.
An all too-common situation these days. I went through it during my one kid's wedding, where the unfaithful ex and his latest of many non-marital partners were suddenly feature players in front of the bride's large Catholic family. It has taken two years, but bit by bit, I have explained my point of view regarding our ostensible Christian faith. Teachable moments, including for myself—to express myself without negativity, and have minimal expectations. I think over whatever I have to say in terms of negotiating holidays, and prepare myself to do it without them if need be. It's hard.
I was being pragmatic and they took great offense. I have a business major among other things and I think in pragmatic terms and positions especially in a business sense. The leftists took great offense.
My SIL spent 20 years in Australia and came back to care for a dear old Auntie and dear ol Auntie didn’t like the leftist-bitch either and tossed her out too.
Goodness sakes and bless their hearts but my plate is full and I don’t need their aggravation.
Heck I don’t want to break bread with anyone who votes the communist line.
The first requirement for members of a cult is to cut all ties with family and friends.
Heck, this has already happened to me.
My uber-lib sister has disowned me. To her, I am a Christian Nationalist, a misogynist, and a Nazi.
She’s all for abortion, all for homosexuality and transgender people, and is convinced that Trump will put all her gay and trans friends in concentration camps. Not to mention banning all contraceptives and ‘forcing’ women to have babies. The idea of abstinence is foreign to her.
And of course, she has a white-hot hatred of God (who she doesn’t believe in anyway...go figure).
I started purging many from my circle of aquaintances in the 90’s. Life is easier now
The reason they proclaim that idea is because so many don't bother to make families, anyway. Just make the babies without a commitment to parenting. The products of unprotected sex grow up "pillar to post without a pot to pee in", as the old folks used to say.
Yes there are many women that decided against having families in the past 3 decades. They complain about their jobs and husbands they coddle their dogs etc and resent family and friends with kids.
Premptive strike. Maintaing a relationship with a died in the wool leftie is like a Jew maintaining a relationship with a member of the SS.
Son is a wokester who would mimic the Red Guards informing state security of my disloyalty to the state. One thing I can not abide by is rats, especially commie rats. Last time he visited my wife, I spent the day at work and came home as he was leaving. IF you are guessing this has caused some tension you are correct
