Deep wounds.

Posted on 11/11/2024 9:41:14 AM PST by republicanbred

We grew up in a home of strict Constitutionalists. I was writing pro-gun rights letters to congress by the time I was 12 years old. My father has now passed, but my mom and I are still firm in our beliefs on the Constitution and our Republic. My sibling, not so much, definitely suffering from TDS. This sibling wrote me off about a month before the election due to my political views. It was like a knife to the heart, and I am still struggling. I know if I extend the olive branch I will be rejected, and it just makes me sad that a highly educated person would be so brainwashed as to cut out a family member for their political views. I am trying to let it go and move on, I have an AMAZING group of friends that are like siblings to me and my children are all like-minded as well. This experience has made me understand completely how brother fought against brother in the civil war. Truly sad days.

My wife’s niece admitted she’s a switch hitter. We’re don’t care and we still get along but now she’s actually paranoid worrying Pres Trump will throw her and other alphabet people in concentration camps. She does live in Seattle so that explains a lot, but DAMN! GET A GRIP!

I’m so sorry for your loss. Because I believe blood is thicker than water, I hope and pray that one day in the future, you two will be able to speak cordially with each other. It may be many years.

I recently experienced the loss of what I thought was a close friend. It wasn’t over politics, but it was over control. This “friend” wanted to control me, and when I didn’t buckle, she said “sayonara”. She was a nice person to be around, but she wanted me to do more things with her than I am able to do. She wanted me to cut out my own family.

My husband said I reacted like someone who had just been fired. He was right. I have learned that that friendship was pretty one sided. She asked, and I gave. There came a point where I couldn’t do any more. What I had already done for her simply wasn’t enough. I am a lot better now, some 2 months later.

I hope that your pain will ease as the wound heals. I pray that at some point in the future, you two can be siblings again. With God, all things are possible.

My brother in law is absolutely convinced there are thousands of Nazis marching down the main streets of American every day.

It is kinda hard to prove a negative.

Lol.

I have a very liberal brother, and sister. Fortunately, they don’t push politics at me and we get along great. The ones that can’t control themselves (like a neighbor I can’t wait to see) are the ones that you just can’t get along with, they won’t allow you the courtesy of letting you think as you wish without telling you how “bad” you are. Liberalism is now a religious movement, not a political one. They don’t argue politics they just push their morality dogma. You can’t win against that, it’s not about logic.

On abortion, Harris wanted to take away religious exemptions from healthcare workers. IMHO, that is unconscionable. Not sure how you defend that to God.

“It seems to me that the more education some people get the less common sense they seem to have”

I was in college (in Texas!) in the early-mid 70’s and it took me 10 years to overcome the liberal BS I was taught. My liberal mother (who let me think freely at least) once asked me what caused me to become conservative.

I told her the truth: “10 years of relentless exposure to reality.” She couldn’t come up with a response to that so it wasn’t ever mentioned again.

Face it.

Your sibling is a submissive for Mistress Harris and her Commie fellow travelers.

Same situation here. Just remember, family is first, even those who shun us. Continue to love them, and, most of all, pray for them. But don’t buy what they sell.

My sister is the proverbial childless cat woman. She would email me article after article about how wonderful the extreme left is and I would grumble and delete it.

I finally decided to quit sitting on the sidelines and do the same. I don’t know that it’s helped any but it’s certainly more fun.

Eventually, the follies of the day wear out and lose credibility, or at least potency, and are usually replaced by new follies believed in by a new set of fools. Slowly, the once deceived tend to become a little wiser.

You’re not alone. I barely communicate with my brothers anymore. Mostly text. The briefer the better.

It’s too bad. We were getting along pretty well for a couple of decades there. Now our parents are dead and there’s very little reason to try to get along anymore.

Since Cain and Abel it has been so. Breath in, breath out, move on.

Best friend of 29 years stopped talking to me right before the election. Completely ignored my birthday on Nov 6. Hubby said, given the election results, you must see why. She has a horrible case of TDS .... stronger than 29 years of friendship.

Romans 12L18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.

If your brother doesn’t want peace, that will be on him.

Matt 6:34 “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day.
