Yale psychiatrist urges MSNBC viewers to shun Trump-voting family members over the holidays

A Yale-affiliated psychiatrist encouraged LGBTQ+ people whose family members voted for Donald Trump to cut ties and shun their relatives over the upcoming holidays — as fallout from the election reached hysteria on left-leaning MSNBC.

Yale University child psychiatry fellow Dr. Amanda Calhoun dug into the issue of the post-election crises in the LGBTQ+ community with MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Friday night.

“There is a societal push that, if somebody is your family, they are entitled to your time. And I think the answer is absolutely not,” Calhoun said in a clip shared online.

“So, if you are going through a situation where you have family members or you have close friends who you know have voted in ways that are against you, that are against your livelihood, then it’s completely fine to not be around those people, and to tell them why,” she continued.

“To say, ‘I have a problem with the way that you voted because it went against my very livelihood, and I’m not going to be around you this holiday, I need to take some space for me.’”

Calhoun appeared on liberal network’s “The ReidOut” in response to reports of a massive increase in crisis calls from LGBTQ+ youth in the wake of Trump’s staggering win this week.

Under Trump’s presidency, many rights and protections for trans people and other members of the LGBTQ+ community are likely to be under serious threat, advocates say.

Let’s see what the new Yale University president says about this. She was adamant that she did not want anybody making political statements to the press.

Kinda late to the party, doc. That’s probably how they’ve been voting for 8 years. Carry on, though.

You can discuss history and the constitution without being for one party or another.
That’s not the way it is now.

You can discuss history and the constitution without being for one party or another.

In theory one might assert as much as possible, but in practice the principles underlying (then) opposing positions inevitably evoke parallels with what we see today. Indeed, without citing examples of such is to render what learning might be acquired virtually useless in application.

IOW your bald faced assertion is equine feces.

I guess no civility and reaching across the aisle in unity for these folks.

It was fake all along.

Cult characteristic is to alienate family.

Yes, successful brainwashing requires isolation from all other points of view.

“Estrangement” and “no contact” practices used by family therapists to protect abuse victims are now used as a woke tactic to cover practically anything a family considers offensive—the woke will cut off friends and family perceived to be “racist” (see movie “Am I a Racist?”), pro-life, and now, for voting for Trump. If this happens to you, don’t take it personally. Consider the person cutting themselves off as being under the influence of a cult. They need deprogramming, but they isolate themselves from help. It’s painful, but prayer and fasting for God’s assistance provides hope that change is possible. See Chris Stefanick’s interview with Silicon Valley progressive and multi-millionaire Kailash Duraiswami who was so stunned by Trump’s 2016 election, he became a Christian (Catholic). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLyBaWwCY50&t=7s

That’s the worst advice for anyone suffering from the neurosis of homosexuality, or for lefties in general who have had a psychotic break from reality. They need real people in their lives, people who will love them unconditionally despite their shortcomings. With family, you learn to get along with people who you might not like, but who you nevertheless love.

I'm not going to be around you this holiday. I need to take some space for me.

Ah, yes, attitude and phraseology she absorbed from our present culture. It is the "me" centered idea again. Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all - says Whitney Houston. "Believe in yourself!", "Follow your heart!" etc... There is actually a "Me" magazine and a "Self" magazine if you can believe it.

Here's some wisdom from the person who created the universe and everything in it. "Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."

Psychiatrists are their own worse patients. A great number of them may self diagnose and prescribe. Never trusted them after my 1st ex and that divorce shenanigans. Shysters. Licensed to ruin other people’s lives at the stroke of a pen. The pitbull lawyer I hired got to the bottom of that mess and saved my bacon.
Fuggum all.

Family is not limited to blood relation.

The few blood relation that I have left are distant cousins and not of my political persuasion.

I’ve been graciously invited for holiday gatherings but I have respectfully declined and we cordially speak on the phone a couple of times a year.

I’ve been blessed to have other folk become family to me.

God provides in all things.

I actually think most LGBT “rights” WON’T be circumscribed under Trump, unless they have to do with children (butchery) or women’s/girls sports.
