“Miyake events,” characterized by rapid increases in the amount of radiocarbon in the atmosphere.

I have, yet another, dumb question: Does this interfere with the accuracy of carbon-14 dating?

Yes, it creates more carbon-14, so the item appears younger than it really is..............

Dendrochronology antedates radiocarbon dating, but as the technology arrived and then improved, it was possible to use smaller samples, so dating individual rings led to a merging of the two disciplines. You may have seen "calibrated" and "uncalibrated" RC dates? The calibrated results have been "wiggle matched" to see where the sequence of C14 variation matches up with the contiguous data gathered over years.
