Looks like NewYork Post just did a story on Jeffery Maier 3 days ago:

https://nypost.com/2024/10/26/sports/jeff-maier-got-to-relive-his-fan-interference-drama-all-over-again-28-years-later/

The Yankees have done it before

Liberal azhos can’t control themselves in public. They spit on and throw stuff at entertainers at concerts. Now they’ve started interfering in sporting events. They act just like a group of unmonitored, immature chimpanzees.

Hope he got booted.

Of course he got kicked out - and he should never be allowed into an MLB game again. Total loser, and his antics could have sprained or broken Betts' wrist.

What happened with the Cubbies?

Steve Bartman, 2003.

Wow. If true, that’s ridiculous.

Didn’t a Dodger fan do the same thing in Game 1?

If it’s unacceptable to do that during World Series games then it’s unacceptable to do it during exhibition games. If that’s not how it works now it should be.

This was even worse. Mookie Betts(LA RF) made an incredible catch literally on top of the wall all the way down the first base line. It would have been a foul ball if untouched. The fan grabbed his glove opened it and took the ball out. Then threw it back into the field.

He had a helper too. I believe they were both ejected from the game. They should be banned by major league baseball for fan interference.

Looked a bit like he doesn’t have a full roster of chromosomes. Pretty strong though, ripping the ball out the glove.

Yes, but it wasn’t quite as bad as this one. The umpires made the right call both times.

“Total loser, and his antics could have sprained or broken Betts’ wrist.”

That’s a risk ball chaser was willing to take to play the game. He put himself in that situation chasing the ball. He jumped off the field into their seating.

I don’t think its a crime.

It is the crime of battery, an unwanted touching. I doubt it will be prosecuted, though.

Both teams have the worst fan bases. Arrogant entitled jackasses. Dislike both franchises

Was it even "interference"?

From the video, to my eyes anyway, it looks like Mookie's glove was is in the stands (fans are allowed to go for the ball if it's in the stands) and that he caught the ball for the out.

The theft of the ball, and the grabbing of a players mitt took place after the catch.

Looking at the play-by-play description, I only see mention of a "foul-out" and not "fan interference".

The batter was called ‘out’ anyways. But the two morons should not have interfered.................

Yes, player’s wrist was in a dangerous position and he was hanging by it. Miracle he didn’t rip some tendons or break a bone.

Oh, Please . . . It's the Bronx, man - not Hollywood and the player isn't made out of tissue paper. Jeez
