Counting Down my iTunes Play Count (VANITY) -- Day #38
AC’s iTunes Directory | 10/21/2024 | Alberta's Child

Posted on 10/21/2024 8:46:36 AM PDT by Alberta's Child

Day #38 of the Top 50 songs on my iTunes playlist -- ranked in reverse order by play frequency from #50 to #1 and presented here on a series of FR threads. I've been posting them here on a new thread that compiles the growing list one day at a time over the course of several months. I only post them on weekdays and may miss a day or two here and there, so we are getting down to the last few weeks here.

And to show my gratitude to the FR management for giving us all a forum to post vanity threads like this, I'll be making contributions for both the 3rd and 4th quarter fundraisers. I would encourage everyone on these threads to do the same! :-)

Have fun with this, folks!

Pinging to those from the previous threads. This one seemingly came out of nowhere to appear so high on this list among some all-time classics. There's a story behind it, as it was part of a regular rotation of slow, mellow tunes I used to play while driving home trying to unwind after late-night hockey games. Seems like I still can remember every small town I drove through on my way home in the wee hours of the morning in the early 2000s.

"Take the way home that leads back to Sullivan Street ... where I'm just another rider burned to the ground."

Let me know if you'd like to be added or removed from the ping list!

That one is a pretty good song. I like many Counting Crows songs. Long December and Mr Jones are pretty good too.

Really enjoying this list, thank you!

What I like about "Sullivan Street" are the background vocals by Maria McKee, solo artist and former lead singer of Lone Justice. She can also be heard again on "A Murder Of One," also on August and Everything After.

McKee had a few hits in the 80s and early 90s--very promising voice, but perhaps a little too artistic, a little too angst-y to really break out into the mainstream.

I always liked Maria McKee after hearing Lone Justice at Rock Am Ring in 1985.

"A Murder Of One" is probably my second-best song on August and Everything After.

It's got a clever title, too -- considering the band's name:

murder (noun): a flock of crows.

Very interesting. That’s the first I’ve ever heard of Maria McKee!
