Story is 3 years old but I only read about it today. Passed 2.5 classes in 4 years which if understand correctly means he passed 5 semesters of anything in 4 years. I’m guessing a 6-7 period day or 10-14 credits possible per year (assuming 1 study hall).

Honestly if many schools were like this the department of education needs to be shut down.

Wrong! I passed FOUR classes in four years. (I kind of slacked off in high school).

He didn’t fail, the school failed him. The school failed at their job. They failed. They failed, that’s the problem here. They failed. They failed. He didn’t deserve that.”

They, they, they. He is a victim.

Certainly accurate.

In my youth, I was a 4.0 honor roll student with a bright future. Long story short, I failed an important class - my first fail EVER - but the devil is in the details:

HALF of the class failed at semester. My counselor didn’t care, administrators didn’t care. I’ve made the same claim for 40 years, that the teacher - and, by consequence, the school - failed me.

4 decades ago. Whenever I shared this story, all I ever received was silence and obvious judgment.

Well, touche’. Color me shocked. /s And yet the band plays on.

Pathetic.

If I’d had children, they NEVER would have been in a public school.

This explains a lot to me - I was wondering how the stories about single digit ASVAB scores could be possible.

I get it now.

Poor kid - now he truly is a victim, as it’s clear that NO ONE gave a damn if he ever actually LEARNED anything.

I took the 10th grade off and still managed, and besides, it’s not like it’s a CRIME to falsify official government documents.

It’s not only in the inner city where failing scores are happening.

Public schools are also hiring foreign teacher, paying them room and board plus salary.

Illegals are learning both English and Spanish and are being taught in their language starting in Kindergarten.

Meanwhile American students receive one unit in Spanish in Middle School and two years in High School.

QUESTION? Are they using the Common Core curriculum?

Play ball and take the C makes for a well balanced high school experience, I say.

Maybe the old days of getting a legitimate eighth grade information and then go earn a living was a good idea for some people who just aren’t cut out for school.

The kid is obviously qualified to teach in Baltimore public schools. What’s the problem?

It’s a school where a student who passed three classes in four years, ranks near the top half of his class with a 0.13 grade point average.

I find that pretty hard to believe, even in Baltimore.

They should make this mother happy by going ahead and awarding her son his diploma, and to make up for past sins have some college award him his doctorate in engineering.
