Paul Simon turns 83 tomorrow. I'm a late boomer, but the song sounds relevant today.
Today's modern music is crap, flame away.

The piano intro is played by Wrecking Crew member Larry Knechtel, who also played the guitar licks in Bread's Guitar Man. He played piano in numerous other hit songs, including Wedding Bell Blues by The 5th Dimension.

Today's modern music is crap, flame away. Rock and roll has been going downhill since Buddy Holly died.

Bridge over Troubled Water has always seemed a little sappy to me.

Confessing jealousy of Paul Simon right here. May God forgive me.

No flames, just sadness. There’s great music happening in this world and if you can’t even be bothered to look that’s you damaging your life. Sucks for you. But, not my problem.

This song inspired “the Long and Winding Road.”
I think McCartney was jealous and wanted to write an epic ballad too.

“Today’s modern music is crap”
It takes maybe five minutes to write a song these days and another 5 minutes to crank it out on the computer. I believe that there is only ONE modern song and every piece of crap derives from that one song. There’s no talent, creativity, artistry, or musicianship in modern popular music.
I do find lots of interesting and talented young groups on Spotify, but they are often today’s equivalent of the earlier “One Hit Wonder.”

"“Bridge over Troubled Water” is the titular song of Simon & Garfunkel’s album of the same name."
Come on, man!...It's the title track!..."titular"?...LOL!
