Oct. 9 (UPI) -- A crash on a California highway caused an hours-long "traffic yam" when one of the vehicles lost its load of sweet potatoes into the roadway.

The California Highway Patrol's Merced post said on social media that traffic on southbound Highway 99 in Livingston was brought to a standstill when a crash involving a truck caused the vehicle to drop hundreds of sweet potatoes onto the roadway.
Travelers were advised to find alternate routes while officials worked to clear the tubers from the highway.
Traffic resumed after a clean-up operation that lasted for several hours.
I yam what I yam...
Darn you.
a traffic yam...
THE HILLS HAVE, well, EYES!
my fave.
The Silence of the Yams...............
I yam what I yam.
You could always compose a poem in yambic pentameter to memorialize the incident.
Sweet potatoes scattered on dawns highway bleeding
ghosts crowd the young childās fragile eggshell mind.
One grim day on a California road
A truck lay useless, shattered on its side
Its cargo ruptured, once a heavy load
Of new sweet taters on a fateful ride
A wave of tubers flew, a tragic tide
Of tumbling terror freed of box and crate
Once destined to be baked, or boiled, or fried
And now a squishy end, an awful fate
For none would now survive to see the date
Of some fat lady's rich Thanksgiving feast
Marshmallow smeared, and buttered on a plate
Or with a burger, sliced and nicely greased
Instead, a drying smear of starchy goo
And now, good grief, I'm hungry. How 'bout you?
Bravo! I am thoroughly impressed.
