The 2024 box office has been inundated with sequels, prequels and remakes, with the top 10 titles of the year all coming from existing intellectual property...That trend will continue, and expand, in 2025.

Sadly so many good add free movie channels (IFC, Sundance, AMC) now show only old TV sitcoms over and over again. I still miss my Samurai Saturdays on IFC.
TCM is the only one I watch any more and it is beginning to show too many modern movies.

I have come to expect that most of these channels will be short lived (for what ever reason). But as old ones go, new ones pop up.
What I now look for are the special events where they show classic films for an evening.
Seen movies like The Maltese Falcon, Lawrence of Arabia, Double Indemnity, North by Northwest, and Cabaret.
No problem spending my money seeing classics on the big screen.
A university psychology department (I have forgotten which one) conducted an approved study of several hundred people who liked Morgan Freeman's voice.
Their most common trait - high intelligence.

Actually I think that’s down from previous years. With Marvel and DC both on a “light” schedule this year. Movies are expensive and Hollywood, who increasingly aren’t actually run by Hollywood anymore, like “assurances”. Every once in a while something outside the norm hits big (John Wick), but Hollywood never learns the right lesson.
AI will soon replace the need for actors. There are some interesting AI shorts and trailers up on youtube. They will only get better.
Got a new Matlock coming with a female/
There is already AI generated music.
It had none of those things but the story needed work.
It was an enjoyable low budget October scary movie suitable for kids.
And some of it is good.
Anyone else wondering if Hollyweird now exists to launder money for Deep State...?
I’m waiting breathlessly for Birdemic 4 and Sharknado 7.
There is something in common with AI films.... : )
