To: Harmless Teddy Bear

Back during the Golden Era of Hollywood, when the big studios kept a stable of actors under contract, the actors and actresses were not allowed to make any public statements on any subject without prior approval of the studio PR people. And definitely no political endorsements.

Boss moguls like Sam Goldwyn knew that the American people would automatically be turned off by half if an actor endorsed a candidate. And that half would not show up at the theater to see the actor’s movies.........

Yep.

And that is the way it should be.

I am a fan of documentaries. They are my secret vice for when my world is going really wrong. But there are documentaries I can not enjoy because in real life the narrator has called me names because of who I vote for. So I avoid those.

Did it change even one vote? Probably not.

Did it cost the production company a sale?

Yep.

And eventually those lost sales do add up.

Sam Elliot stepped in it this morning, ten times worse than this.
