Heartwarming Tales of Terrorists Blowing Themselves Up
RedState ^ | 9/17/2024 | Jim Thompson

We’ve recently read some heartwarming stories concerning terrorists in Lebanon being separated from their mortal coils as they were blown up by their own pagers. Israel had no comment other than (I'm guessing) Mossad agents giving each other high-fives for a job well done.

RedState's Susie Moore wrote:

I'm not sure who had exploding pagers on their Bingo cards for 2024, but why not? As Bonchie reported earlier:

In one of the most unbelievable developments of 2024, Israel somehow hacked into the pagers and cell phones of Hezbollah fighters and caused them to explode. News of hundreds of injuries, including dismemberments broke on Tuesday morning. Shortly after, videos of devices blowing up began to circulate.

Israel can’t admit to blowing up terrorists using pagers, but everyone knows it wasn’t lithium batteries that just all-of-sudden blew up at the same time. It was carried out by a nation-state intent on ending bad guys. If they weren't ended, they at least lost the use of some appendages. Technology has been used to great effect, eliminating terrorists or terror infrastructure. In 2021, Operation Olympic Games destroyed a cluster of Iranian centrifuges used, no doubt, to forward Iran’s nuclear bomb program. It was a cyber bug planted by Israel and the U.S. Other terror plots were foiled, not by sophisticated logic bombs or technology but by just dumb luck – and I mean dumb. As in, terrorists can be really dumb.

Eight years ago, Sevdet Ramadan Besim decided he was going stuff the pouches of kangaroos with explosives, then paint them in Islamic State colors. Apparently he thought the 'roos would just sit there compliantly. He intended to set them loose on the streets of Melbourne. No, seriously, Besim thought that he could corral kangaroos and maybe convince them to jihad themselves for the “cause.” He got caught before any kangaroo could beat him senseless and disembowel him. But my favorite feel-good dumb terrorist story happened 12 years ago in Bangkok, Thailand.

Three Iranian nationals were plotting an attack on Israeli diplomats using “sticky bombs.” The botched plot started botching when the rented apartment of three inept terrorists went...“boom!”

In March 2012, the Bangkok neighborhood shook when the apartment exploded, and three bloodied men staggered out of the building. The terrorists (who I will code-name Manny Moe and Curly) went in different directions. Saied Morad (code-name Curly because his hair was likely curled from the blast) was a 28-year-old Iranian [former] soldier. Curly was bleeding from his ears to his feet. He was carrying what witnesses described as a backpack and two black boxes. The black boxes were devices with green wires sticking out of them. Bloody Curly tried to hail a cab. The cab driver, seeing a bloody man who was perhaps still smoking from the apartment blast, refused to stop for Curly’s hail. In response, Curly tossed a bomb at the cabbie. Kaboom!

Curly had one bomb left. As the police closed in, he tried to toss his last bomb at the cops. Fortunately, his sticky bomb got stuck on something, and it boomeranged back at Curly and blew up, with the blast removing Curly’s legs from the rest of his body. It also removed his right eye. The police arrested what was left of Curly. Unfortunately for Curly, he didn’t get his 72 virgins on that fateful day. He survived. Curly appeared in court missing his legs and right eyeball, but he was still able to raise a defiant fist in the air. His defense was classic: “I had no idea where the bombs came from." He was shocked, shocked to find bombs in the cupboard. Curly claimed he had opened the kitchen cabinet and instead of falafels, he found...bombs. RUN! he told Manny and Moe. Curly took the brunt of the bomb blast. Unlike Curly's legs, his defense didn't fly. He was convicted and sentenced to 28 years in prison. Manny and Moe were also arrested and sent to prison.

The story of Manny Moe and Curly doesn’t have a completely feel-good happy ending. All three were repatriated - sent back to Iran in exchange for an Australian woman who Iran had managed to nab and arrest on trumped-up charges.

One hopes that Israel continues to “allegedly” blow up terrorists using the terrorists’ own pagers. One hopes that Iran continues to send dumb terrorists out into the wild, only to manage to blow themselves up or manage, as was the case for Curly, to separate himself from his legs and eyeball.

“Do many Christians carry pagers distributed by Hezbollah?”

I don’t know, do you? One out of three people in Lebanon are Christians, so even if they didn’t carry one they could have been injured.

The article made no such assumption.[that no innocent bystanders were injured as well]

???

The assumption is right there in the title: 'Heartwarming Tales of Terrorists Blowing Themselves Up' (emphasis mine)

I'm sure Hamas was very careful in who they blew up. Didn't matter to them whether they murdered a baby, a pregnant woman, a grandmother, a son, or a beautiful young woman.

So... because others devalue life, you do to? Why stop there? Where do you draw the line? If you don't draw the line at innocents, why pretend you have a line at all?

Hamas-niks deserve, even their innocents, all the worst.

There it is. Your opinion that even their innocents "deserve" all the worst says a lot about you. That word innocent doesn't mean what you deem it to. Just come out and say it, "anyone I deem undesirable deserves all the worst."

You're known by the company you keep.

So, guilt by association. How communal of you. Imagine posting that on Free Republic, named in honor of a republic with the right of free association. Posting it on a site named in honor of a republic which sent it's sons to fight and die in a war in Europe to protect people who were told, "You must be guilty because you belong to that group. Here, wear this star. Get on that train."

It's also guilt by proximity, a tactic used by tyrannical regimes. You're guilty because you happen to be standing next to a criminal. Such respect for individual rights. Hope it's never used against you.

Most Recent stuff says it was 2 ounces of some type of explosive, plus they could set it off based on code being presently. Various scenarios for how these were made are on x.com, but i’ve seen a member of postings that it was a Taiwan firm that made these, or perhaps they were modifying Motorola pages, and apparently Israel (which has not admitted any of this) supposedly intercepted the shipment and modified the device. Another article said that the manufacturer in Taiwan somehow assisted. right now, I’m perfectly happy to go along with the exact same thing that Democrats say all the time, there’s no evidence right now that the Israelis are involved at all. I guess if you can stand it, you could watch that video that was posted in the elevator. I viewed it as simply a very fast fire.

Thanks.

I think that is obtuse. Rationalization to justify blaming Israel for a war they didn’t start and which they are pursuing in accordance with the Geneva convention against avowed enemies who respect none of the Geneva convention standards.
Innocents die in war, in every war. It is inevitable. Blame the aggressors, those who started a war effort to support Hamas and who refused to respect the internationally mandated security zone. It is immoral to ignore the facts and apply disparate standards. The red flag of “Christians” is a strawman, attempting to createe afalse narrative that can be used to blame Israel.

How ridiculous and besides the point. There is a war. Civilians die in war. It is normal, expected, accepted and has always been. That is why war is so terrible.
Hamas and Hezbollah brought war upon themselves and many innocents pay the price. It is not up to Israel to be slaughtered so no “innocents” will die. War is a dirty business but when one’s existence is under attack that dirty business cannot be shirked. Taking out the enemy, ending the war is the point of the exercise. The exploding pagers took a lot of the enemy out of the conflict.

I posted in an earlier comment that no one in the United States would have carried this out because they'd be charged for the injury or death of any innocent bystander or non-terrorist who happened to be holding the pager.

Detonating explosives remotely among civilian populations without confirming the targets or nearby innocent civilians, for the sake of expediency, is unacceptable.

If it's so "acceptable" as you say, put it in writing - right there in the articles of war. "We declare war on any and every resident, including any and all innocent civilians."

Shape charge toward the hip.

Whose hip - if you can't confirm the intended target is wearing it?

Can you confirm the intended target is wearing it with the shaped charge facing the body? That he's not wearing it backwards and some innocent kid is standing next to him on line in a supermarket?

Your compassion for people in that neck of the woods is heartwarming. Especially since all of THEM want all of US DEAD.

The term is called “telemetering.” Causing a device to function (malfunction) remotely. In order to have an explosion there has to be the inclusion of something ‘explosive’ in the design of the pager in the first place. That’s either gonna be the Lithium Ion battery which possibly could be put into an overheat mode (and burn up) or other material inserted on manufacture.

To me this means somebody got to a popular pager manufacturer (who still makes them?) that terrorists use and had something included in the manufacture. Seems a little incredible to me, frankly. Too much of a danger of someone innocent getting blown up.

I’m not holding back and make no apologies...at all. My dad always said, be careful what you wish for. The Palestinians have been wishing for the death of the Jews for centuries with unbridled hate. Don’t try a guilt trip on me. Wrong person. Get lost.
