Everybody gets a C- ?
This is an oldie.....but a goodie.
A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs, in other words, redistribution of wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he thought should be his.
One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in school.
Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even have time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because she spent all her time studying.
Her father listened and then asked, ‘How is your friend Audrey doing?’ She replied, ‘Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus; college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties and lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s too hung over.’
Her wise father asked his daughter, ‘Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him to deduct 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend who only has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.’
The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired back, ‘That’s a crazy idea, how would that be fair! I’ve worked really hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work! Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She played while I worked my tail off!’
The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently, ‘Welcome to the conservative’s philosophy.’
Similar videos have been made the past 20 years and the results are always the same: “Hell no, I’m not sharing my GPA points! I worked HARD and lost sleep to get that high GPA.”
The interviewers should ask “Do you support the administration TAKING a lot of your GPA points and giving them to the underperforming students?” That would be a lot more like taxation (theft) than voluntarily giving your GPA points to the “GPA-poor” students. The interviewers always fall short of asking if student GPA points should be stolen.
For 20 years or more, these videos have been a sad commentary on the sheer stupidity of the supposedly “educated” kids. It would be great if somebody do a longitudinal study and track down the kids interviewed the past 1, 5, 10, 15 and 20 years and see how they are doing today. How many remained hard-core socialists?
This is because they are just college students.
They haven’t entered the real-world economy and experienced confiscatory taxation yet.
“They haven’t entered the real-world economy and experienced confiscatory taxation yet.”
There may be some truth to that (young skulls full of mush), but our public schools and universities have created a cadre of dedicated socialists who believe the fantasy throughout their lives. Today’s stupid socialist kid does not discard the socialist dream when they start working and see the confiscatory taxes. Not the way pragmatic kids educated 20, 30 or 40 years ago discarded their dalliance with socialism
I like it…never heard that version…:)

Even if they ARE in the workforce, they don't recognize the taxation for what it is, because they never see that money--it's all taken out before they get the paycheck.
Out of sight, out of mind.

That is the most insidious part of “withholding”.
Even worse than the fact that they don’t take what you earned after the fact but moreso that because you never had it in your hands, it doesn’t feel like stealing.
Instead dumb leftists complain about their employer not paying them enough. All they know is how little they took home. They don’t think about where much of it went.
Who wants to give all the product of their labor to someone else who will decide what you "need" to get in return?

Similar “no” reactions when asked if they will house a migrant.
Broad pc views are great in the distance...not so hot when in front of your nose.
That's the quintessential definition of communism. And what the Kammunist has in store for us if she wins.
And it is an easy example to show.
Once they understand people start thinking, maybe I DON'T want that.
Aye, but there's the rub -- understanding and thinking. Those are in short supply this century.
Socialism has been pushed on them by schools and media as the simple and correct way of doing things if those "1%'s weren't so greedy". It has to be refuted in a way that is just as simple.
“It has to be refuted in a way that is just as simple.”
And that’s the exact purpose of these interviews with students that ask “Will you share your GPA points with the needy, underserved students (who are lazy and didn’t work as hard as you did)?”
In a more accurate emulation of socialism:
- All grades from A through C would become a C. It’s a progressive tax, only ‘fair.’
- The D and F students would get a D+ and stay enrolled. In current socialism, the recipients of government programs never get a real chance, only a little boost up that keeps them trapped in the system.
- People who didn’t even enroll would get the GPA points and credit taken from the passing students. Those persons selected would primarily come from the associates and children of the administrators, and some complete miscreants too so they can hang about on campus and rob and assault people.
