The real problem for the left, as they’re now discovering, is how average Americans perceived the obvious unfairness on display at the Trump-Harris debate.
Shortly after the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, leftist pundits began crowing on social media about how conservatives’ complaints about the bias shown by two ABC moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, are just proof that Trump had lost the debate. Richard Haass of the Council on Foreign Relations wrote this on X:
Richard N. Haass @RichardHaass
Expect @realDonaldTrump backers will claim it was 3 vs 1, but you know you lost the game when you end up complaining about the refs. Actually, the problem with the two moderators was less the uneven fact-checking than consistent lack of follow-ups to unanswered questions.
In the vein of sports analogies, perhaps he’s right when it comes to the hardcore fans of the teams playing. Just as any refs making a controversial call are immediately accused of bias by many fans of the home team when it appears to negatively impact their team, it’s just as predictable that many fans of the opponents will defend the refs as honest judges who are above such base motivations when it benefits their team.
But the left’s real problem isn’t with how Trump backers perceive the unfairness of the contest, and neither is it about how Democrat acolytes now supporting Kamala think the moderators were among the most fair and balanced adjudicators since King Solomon (it still feels wrong to call them “Kamala supporters” when she didn’t earn one pledged delegate in 2020 or even a single vote in the 2024 Democrat primary).
The real problem for the left, as they’re now discovering, is how everyone else will undoubtedly perceive the obvious unfairness on display.

I question if “undecided voters” will see the bias that was on display.
Sometimes the refs really ARE biased, Mr. Haass. One or two bad calls in a game isn't sign of bias, but of humanity. When the entire game is filled with one-sided bad calls is when bias gets identified.
Actually, the problem with the two moderators was less the uneven fact-checking than consistent lack of follow-ups to unanswered questions.
No, Mr. Haass. That the "fact-checking" involved outright lies by the moderators make the lack of follow-up pale in comparison. The questions ignoring the elephant in the democrat room - being when did Kamala know Joe was unfit, and why she lied about his state - is almost as egregious.
The moderators letting Kamala slide with word salad flambe in place of meaningful responses simply shows that the mods don't believe the voters deserve to be informed. The other two issues show the mods believe that voters deserve to be lied to.
I think the display of an obviously vacuous Kamala reinforced the idea that she is acting and an Obama puppet. Usually there is a big shift in polling close to election day. I predict a big shift away from the Dems as people will go for the authentic Donald Trump.
I think they did see the bias AND Harris’s lies. No US military personnel in a combat zone? 3 soldiers killed in Syria and missiles flying at U.S. ships in the Mid East this year. Harris is unprepared to say the least

“undecided voters”??
US politics right now are SO polarized that only a brain dead, half wit could identify as ‘undecided’
There is enough room between Liberals and Conservatives to fit a universe!
They are not “Kamala supporters “, just ask them. They can’t name one thing she has done, besides “there are too many to name”
Then can’t name one
They are dem supporters or anyone but Trump types
It is obvious they are brain dead lemmings, like when they are given dem quotes that are attributed to Trump and of course condemn them…, but when told they are from Kamala, xiden, Obama, Schumer…. The reaction is always silence, deer in the headlights look, then “I guess I need to do more research “
Did she even answer one question actually?
This is long but it is the best analysis of the debate I have seen

You don’t realize how many idiots we have in our society do you?
About 10% of our population keeps the other 90% alive.
“You don’t realize how many idiots we have in our society do you?”
Well, half of the people in this country are below average, so…
Nice thoughts but.. this was not a football game. - it was SUPPOSED to be a debate; a discussion between TWO candidates..
Apples & Oranges…
Presupposes a fair election.
Rich Noyes at the Media Research Center observed... charted 100% positive coverage of Kamala Harris while coverage of Donald Trump was 93% negative.
The only time Harris is 'on fire' and speaking well is when she's expressing hatred and contempt. She's never funny or light hearted or logical or intellectual - but when it comes to hatred - contempt, looking down on others - her eyes light up with evil. Same with her sonority sister...
Richard Haass has never been to an Alabama football game.
Sometimes really bad refs make calls that throw the game to the otherwise losing team. This is worse, these refs were crooked, they were on the payroll effectively of one of the teams.
TDS runs deep with them
