In a surprise move on Aug. 6, a strong Ukrainian force—eventually numbering around a dozen battalions each with up to 400 troops—breached the defenses along the Russia-Ukraine border adjacent to Russia’s Kursk Oblast. In a heady couple of weeks before the front stabilized, the Ukrainians routed poorly-trained Russian conscripts and captured 400 square miles of Kursk Oblast.
“This has put [Russian Pres. Vladimir] Putin under pressure,” U.K. Defense Secretary John Healey said.
Rightly embarrassed, Putin ordered the Kremlin to recapture Kursk by Oct. 1. And on Wednesday, Russian troops dutifully launched a counterattack along the western edge of the Ukrainian salient. “Russia's counteroffensive to drive Ukrainians out of the Kursk region has officially begun,” Finnish analyst Joni Askola announced.

An astute observation.
I agree 100%.
I doubt that China is happy about the West’s military buildup, new weapons factories, larger budgets, more cooperation, expanded alliance, and all the movement to get the same thing together with the allies in the Pacific, with the same manufacturing increases, cooperation, and new military readiness with larger budgets, and they really can’t be happy that NATO is warming up to helping us in the Pacific.
After seeing the U.S. lose to a bunch of committed goat F*ckers in Afghanistan, seeing this still doesn’t make me feel any better about the state of our own military.
You may be correct. Those may be unexpected consequences, and why China has not invaded Taiwan during this period of weakness in the USA while their compromised candidate has been in the White House.
What is it with you Putin-apologists here on Free Republic? You all claim to be mind-readers!
[...] and thus not worthy of an answer.
You salute the rank, not the man.
And by the same token, not the man needs to be worthy of an answer, but rather the question.
And it's a legitimate question.
All I see on BushCountry's map in post #14 are tiny, overlapping flags.

Regardless from your chancellor Oaf Doltz,
I know that there are gains and losses in most things and that every country looks at this situation in that light and that China is seeing both good and bad in it, because all nations have to measure everything constantly, and constantly reevaluate their positioning in that regard.
I wonder if China might be shifting their focus of 3 or 4 years ago from moving in the Pacific, instead to more seeking what it can gain from Russia’s situation of today, they may see exploiting Russia for a few years while the getting is good, and there are a lot of ways they can do that, and it seems they are already doing some of the easy ones with so much more yet remaining.
Yes, I am wondering the same.
You forgot the “Bud Light” icon above Milley’s ribbons...
“If Trump gets in, the money will stop and Ukraine forced to make peace”
I’m thinking Kamala Harris is more likely to cut them off. Unless the CBC and the rest of the woke crowd are in on the money laundering.
Don’t be so lazy... I just clipped the image from the Ukraine War Map that is basically unbiased. There are plenty of bombs falling a land being taken elsewhere too that I did not post.
Russian Defense Ministry claimed recapturing 10 settlements in the Kursk region: Apanasovka, Byakhovo, Vishnevka, Viktorovka, Vnezapnoye, Gordeyevka, Krasnooktyabrskoye, Obukhovka, Snagost and 10th October
Thanks!
Regards,
Ukraine troops are making another incursion and moving in Glushkovo district of Kursk region. They already captured a decent size area.
