Former Army Ranger.
His finest role was the CSM in Gardens of Stone.
Epic.

What a magnificent voice God gave James Earl Jones. Even his CNN promo is pure gold. As an original Star Wars fan— yes, millennials, I was there in June 1977 watching it in 70mm and surround sound at a theater on Rt. 4 in Paramus —James Earl Jones's voice has its own zip code in my head from gems like, "Apology accepted, Captain Needa" and "Don't be too proud of this technological terror..." RIP, JEJ.

Admiral Greer:You know what you think about when you’re lying here. You know you’re going to die. You think it’s alright. You lived a long time. You had a family that loved you. You had a job that you thought made a difference, that you thought was honorable. And then you see this.

He played Balthazar, one of the Magi, in Jesus of Nazareth. Conan’s nemesis Thulsa Doom in Conan the Barbarian. The voice of Vader. And so much more. May he rest in peace.

I had the pleasure of seeing him live in “Of Mice and Men” at SMU in 1975 and even got to meet him backstage afterwards. Had no clue who he was then but what an honor for a 12 year old.
