n 18-year-old Florida wide receiver and defensive back for Port St. died on Friday after collapsing in the middle of a game at Liberty County High School.

Port St. Joe athletic director and vice principal Tim Davis told the Northwest Florida Daily News that Chance Gainer was running toward the play before suddenly falling to the ground.

Coaches rushed to Gainer’s aid before calling paramedics to the scene.

“He just went to the ground suddenly,” Davis told the outlet.

Gainer was taken to a hospital in an ambulance but tragically died.

According to Davis, there were just four minutes left in the game when school officials learned of the teen’s death.

The decision was made to finish the game with Port St. Joe winning 28-0.

Gainer’s death was later confrimed with his teammates.

Parents came down on the field to comfort their kids in a heartbreaking scene.

“Such a helpless feeling,” Davis said.

Gulf County School Superintendent Jim Norton told WJHG-TV that Gainer was an honors student who visited Vanderbilt University to discuss possibly attending there.

Gainer “had world-class speed, but more importantly, had a world-class personality,” Norton said.

The news comes amid a report that young and healthy sports players continue to drop dead.

In August alone, there were seven deaths of high school and middle school football players.

Here are just a few:

Former Iowa Football Player, 23, Dies Suddenly

High School Football Player, 17, Dies after ‘Cardiac Arrest’ in His Sleep

Young Football Star Needs a New Heart After Major Heart Attack

Buffalo Bills Player Damar Hamlin, 24, Suffers Cardiac Arrest During Game

Marty McNair, father of 19-year-old Jordan McNair of Randallstown, Maryland, who died during a game, told Fox News that parents should prioritize their children‘s safety first.

In 2023, the National Center for Catastrophic Sport Injury Research reported 16 total football-related deaths – nine of those 6 victims were in middle or high school.

According to NCCSIR statistics, there were six football deaths in 2021, three in 2022, and two in 2023 over the past three academic years.

"The number of U.S. Americans playing tackle football increased in 2023 for the fourth year in a row. In total, around 5.6 million people above the age of six years were engaged in that sport at least once in that year."

With that many folks involved in football, one would think the death rate would be much higher if the vax was at fault.
