Just bought some 10 year Eagle Rare in Virginia for $40. It was $29 when I discovered it a few years ago.

Mellow Corn, 100 proof, bottled in bond. Limited notes but great for the price and readily available.

I have had really high end stuff and there’s a huge difference. But Jim Beam is my go-to, and plenty good for me.
Say, have you had Yukon Jack in the liter bottle?

I’m in Texas and just started working my way through the various local options. Still Austin, Garrison Brothers, Balcones (started by a friend of mine) and so on. Not sure Texas can beat Kentucky yet though. We’ll see.

LONE Elm Wheated Whiskey from Five Points Distillery from Forney, TX. Chosen worlds best wheat whisky from World Whiskys Magazine two years running. My buddies and I do our own mash bill there. We’re on to batch 4.

Going to have to try that out once I’m near Dallas again. Fun to experiment. A master distiller turned me on to the idea of aging in bottle with oak. He uses that method to predict how a batch may turn out in a few years.

Whistle Pig is my favorite Rye whiskey. But at $80 a bottle, I only buy it for my birthday present to me. :-)

Not a fan of Buffalo Trace Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
One taste test of Elijah Craig "Small Batch" Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and you will understand why.
To: ChicagoConservative27
I love Buffalo Trace, especially as a sipping whiskey. Maybe just a touch of water, but nothing else. It makes good cocktails too, but I rarely do mixed drinks. It is very hard to find in stores, as it sells out quickly. My son lives in Lexington, so I just drop by the distillery in Frankfort when we are in town.

I might keep my eyes open for the more premium brands if they’re not too pricey. Be interesting to compare.

Pine Sol? Try something even more indiscernable:
Mellow Corn won't soften your skin but on the upside you won't care.

just started working my way through the various local options That's the fun part. Make the rounds of the local distillers, get to know the people behind the spirits. If you were in WEST Virginia, I'd recommend Black Draft Straight Bourbon Whiskey ... among others.
