The Constitution Stands in Their Way, So …
American Greatness ^ | 7 Sep, 2024 | Laura Hollis

Our Constitution is not dangerous. But the people who are threatened by it—all of them: politicians, academics, journalists, activists—are.

Ah, the left. Ever ready to burn the foundations of America to the ground in pursuit of … progress.

The latest example is a New York Times article by Jennifer Szalai titled, “The Constitution Is Sacred. Is It Also Dangerous?” You can guess what her conclusion will be, but the subhead nevertheless provides an additional clue: “One of the biggest threats to America’s politics might be the country’s founding document.”

Unsurprisingly, Szalai starts out by casting everything in terms of current Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. He is not only a threat to the Constitution, according to Szalai, but—more alarmingly—the Constitution is to blame for his political existence. “Trump owes his political ascent to the Constitution,” she argues, “making him a beneficiary of a document that is essentially antidemocratic and, in this day and age, increasingly dysfunctional.”

As proof, Szalai complains that Trump lost the “popular vote” and that two of his three Supreme Court nominees were confirmed by a majority of the U.S. Senate that only represented 44% of the population. She points accusingly at the provisions of the Constitution containing the Electoral College (Article I), the composition of the U.S. Senate (Article II) and the method of selecting federal judges (Article III).

Szalai ignores that the United States is not, in fact, a democracy but a constitutional republic. She repeats the trope that the creation of the Electoral College was all about slavery—it was not—and she disregards that the Constitution was a treaty of sorts between 13 independent states that agreed to cede some but by no means all of their sovereignty to a federal government of deliberately limited powers....

SCOTUS does not represent the people. It's job is to represent the Constitution.

Therein lies the proof of the Left's failure to understand this country, and why they want to change it...

Yes. It is. It’s extremely dangerous.

To the very people it was designed to shield us from.

To those that would trample all over our inalienable rights, under God.

The world is now a real-time, global, and multilingual entity - where anything and everything can be observed, and reported by, everyone....enabled by the internet. The inevitable result is that it has become a global battleground and the first casualty is ‘free speech’. The only place, apparently, where it is enshrined into a higher law is the USA. It doesn’t exist elsewhere, so the tactics that other countries are engaging in to crush dissenting voices is creeping into our politics. We’re the last place to resist collectivism, that individual rights are paramount, they come FIRST, and are in the BEST INTERESTS of the collective.

We’re witnessing a collective and global evil. I’m ashamed of where the UK has arrived to and where it is headed. Being born and raised there, I remember so many people proud of it being a ‘free country’ and being a bastion of ‘free speech’. And yes, it WAS...but by CULTURE, not law. There is no 1A there and the new, far left, government is throwing people in prison for speech they don’t like. Tyranny is exposed, they have no 2A, and believe there’s little they can do.

The USA, along with its Constitution, is a beacon of light that is shining brighter than ever - so long as we don’t allow that light to be extinguished by those that consider it ‘dangerous’. Our answer to anyone saying such should just be “you’re a TYRANT”. Say it loud. Say it often.

I no longer call myself a conservative.
I am now a strict constitutionalist.
Why?
The constitution pisses off liberals.
The constitution pisses off conservatives.
The constitution, as written, pisses everyone off.
That’s what keeps us on our toes.

How is the Constitution standing in their way? Nobody bothers to enforce what’s in it anyway. RATS have been bastardizing the Constitution for decades with impunity.

“One of the biggest threats to America’s politics might be the country’s founding document.”

Then you are doing “politics” wrong.
