Colt Gray was given the gun he used to shoot dead four people at his Georgia high school as a Christmas present from his father months after they were questioned by the FBI over alleged threats.
The 14-year-old was arrested on Wednesday at Apalachee High School in Winder, minutes after authorities say he opened fire on students and teachers.
Law enforcement sources told CNN Thursday that the teenage shooter received the gun for the holidays this past December.
His father Colin Gray has told authorities that he bought the gun for the boy himself as a Christmas gift. Colin Gray has yet to make any public comment on the shooting.
This was just months after the teenager and his father were interviewed by local law enforcement in connection with online threats about carrying out a school shooting made on the gaming social-media platform Discord, according to investigators.

Well said.
The AR-15 was never a military rifle.
I am not interested in causing you any trouble.
Frankly, MACVSOG was issued CAR 15’s, in Vietnam for USSF 10 Recon Team and asst. team leaders I also got new M16’s for my Montagnards plus our other INDIG and our USSF and INDIG types carried whatever weapon fit their role the best based on their
mission. Most of my SF NCO’s were the best.

I just did not realize the 2nd Amendment had an age restriction. But what a way to clean up the “hood!! The kid acts up, the parents go to jail, and the siblings are raised by the government.
What a beautiful world!!
Doesn’t the “village” take some blame also?
But the common AR-15 of today has never been an issued military weapon.
No intention of causing trouble, at all!
What village? Parents is jail and siblings held in foster homes waiting to be adopted.
25 years later, new generation owns no guns because their parents were too scared to own guns due to government criminalization efforts.
Slowly but surely folks!!
The commonality of calling every “model” version of this rifle an AR is intentional to genericize the concept of these design rifles (which are all semi-automatic, and are NOT therefore “AR” assault rifles which would be able to be selected for single shot per trigger (or 3 per) and also full automatic machine gun. This is a true definition of an assault rifle. As being a machine gun, a true assault rifle in order to be owned must have a special Federal permit/license to own- at considerable cost of the FEE).
The ArmaLite AR-15 is a gas-operated assault rifle manufactured in the United States between 1959 and 1964, based on an earlier model AR-10. Armalite got into financial difficulties in 1959 and sold the patent/rights to AR-15 design to Colt Firearms Industry in 1959. Colt manufactured the AR-15 design and sold to the military as Model M-16.
The Leftist media will NEVER call a rifle of this kind an M-16 which would indicate it being a machine gun—falsely of course, even calling it AR-15. They are lazy. The weapons called AR-15s so commonly— are actually the same as ANY semi-automatic single shot per trigger pull only... Deer Rifle! Made under many different branded manufacturers in this “style” No matter what the body or frame of the weapon looks like, they are not assault weapon/machine guns (unless the perp has a Class IV Federal license to have one— and completely known to BATF). Unless they got the item from Mexican cartel people who trade in the full auto machine guns across the border— all the time.
Sorry- but this extreme difference in rifles needs to be clear- and never is made clear by anti-2nd Amendment jackA@@ demonrats who want all firearms seized even deer rifles.
Note my post explaining that this could not be a true AR-15, by definition, as you eloquently explained the dates when the US Army had actual Armalite Assault Rifle-15s (AR-15s)issued to them. Note the press never calls these M-16s which would be full machine gun capable with a slect-fire lever for single/3 round/full auto firing per trigger pull. And thank you for your post.
Don't own one, prefer bolt action .308 for hunting.
All I can say is that I was too immature to have any contact with firearms at 14...and 18.
Does the left even know about AR10’s? 308 is a phenomenal round. Think BAR.
And FN-FAL.
Killed my first deer with a single shot 20 gauge, while sitting alone in a tree blind, when I was 9 years old. Have carried guns all of my life and I have not ever needed or felt the need to use on on another person.
Not one time has one of my guns ever left my house, car, or holster to go hunting or killing by itself.
