NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Approximately 25 percent of sailors in the surface fleet have bought into the “Get Real Get Better” principles two years after the Navy issued its push to improve culture in the service, according to surface fleet leaders.
The rest know little about it, according to a survey of about 1,000 sailors that a San Diego-based command conducted among ship crews on the waterfront to gauge what they knew about the Navy’s initiative.
“We’ve got a lot of work to do to really drive this down to the deck plate and have it be truly a part of who we are as a culture,” Rear Adm. Randall Peck, the commander of Expeditionary Strike Group 3, told an audience earlier this month at the Surface Navy Association’s 2024 Waterfront Symposium.
“About 25 percent understand what ‘Get Real Get Better’ as a cultural initiative is and have bought into it. And sadly, there’s a whole lot of other people… [who said] I’ve heard of it, but I’m not a believer,’” Peck said.
Back in January 2022, then-Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Gilday issued the call to bolster the Navy’s readiness and warfighting capability by creating and embracing a culture that empowers its leaders and sailors to self-assess and work through performance issues. His successor, Adm. Lisa Franchetti, “has doubled down on it because culture is the most important thing to us as a Navy,” Peck said.

So you didn’t post this sentence: “ This stuff has been coming out of MBA programs since forever…” I may have translated or restated this in another way but that sure seems to be a clear statement as to your belief in the origins of those methods.
Some, not all. Sorry for any misunderstanding.
I was my rafiss selfs thinking the navy was to destroy our enemies and blast our enemies to hell. I am just some stupid Coastie DC tech (kicked out for medical reasons in tertiary tech school which I am deeply ashamed of but had no control over . I did enjoy my time stationed on the west coast though....) ) who thought our naval services were meant to protect the homeland , project our power, and destroy our enemies. Go figure. Now, Annapolis and Cape May probably have the finest “transition” center in the world.
Thank you for that information
I can see wading though Project 2025 in my future
Just let me load the artillery shell so they can blow up people.
Thanks for the summary. I’ll have to download the report and read it.
You’ve put a lot of time and effort into that...we’ll all have to find time to go through it...briefly I don’t see what the DEMS say is there but what’s new??? There are some pretty disgusting TV ads for Harris supposedly quoting from it but not surprising UNTRUE!!!
That’s a woman (ahem!) who made the most offensive statement
about how important “culture” is to the Navy. You can decided if it’s a woman or an IT!!!!
I am really disappointed after that one exercise of trying to boil down the military portion.
I had hoped to post something that lists all the recommendations, but I see now it simply won’t be that easy.
I know I am not as accomplished as those many people who contributed to it, or as skilled as those people who organized it, but damn. Couldn’t they have issued them a format to stick to to provide some uniformity in presentation?
I am going to read it to the end, but...it is so disparate in the way data is presented that I don’t think I will be able to summarize it for anyone in any useful way.
I would have asked them to open with a history section, a current state section, an issues section, and a recommendation section, but it is all over the map.
Granted, this is a white paper kind of thing, I get that. It isn’t a master plan, just a lot of suggestions.
I went to a state fair on Saturday and saw a Leftist jackwad wearing a “STOP PROJECT 2025” t-shirt, and thought it was past time for me to look at it.
I honestly don’t have enough in depth knowledge to comment, but I didn’t see anything outrageous. Listening to the Left, you would think it was the equivalent of “Mein Kampf”.
Hey, Organic Panic, you at least tried. I don’t care why, at least you gave it a shot.
I almost didn’t make it past the opening day at the AFEES Station in Boston (where new recruits went to by bus) because my glasses had been broken...I had to have one of the lens’ remade, and I had a new development at the time (1975) where the lens got darker in the sunlight. Very common now, but it was relatively new back then, and when sunlight hit it, one of the lens got MUCH darker than the other (because they didn’t put the right amount of the stuff in the lens) so I looked like Dr. Strangelove.
I pleaded with the guy, and he relented and passed me.
I had no idea either. But others on this thread recognize the elements of it, and it is BS that a woke MBA would suggest, apparently.
Thanks. Saved it in the bibliography I have for my essay titled “Social Engineering Defeats Combat Capabilities”
The Transgenders, furries, Non Binaries and the other assorted freaks who make up the backbone of the US Military.
What the Leftists don’t realize is, once you kill patriotism, you kill the underlying motivation to work as a team.
Not even the slightest clue that China might have a vote also.
Exactly right. People who don’t work in the real world, mainly academics, end up imposing, awkward, and dysfunctional systems in which real work must get done.
They’re probably wanting enlisted men to make a list of goals, and a plan for improving their performance at achieving them. Really? by the time they can do all that, they could’ve already improved their performance simply by using their own common sense!
I have been in a field that’s utterly infected with that type of thing, and it’s just disgusting. It’s raining the educational process in the field. I work in.
Thanks for your insights.
PIPO (peel it, polish it).
And I ain't talkin' 'bout steel or brass.
I think I’ll download it and see if I can’t get ChatGPT to summarize the relevant sections. I’ll post on here is successful.
Oops...fat finger on small screen.
Should have read PIPI.
;-)
I didn’t think of that-good idea! Can you let me know how that might work out?
