Shock twist on final day of California reparations bill vote
Daily Mail ^ | 9/01/24 | Alex Hammer

Protests have erupted at the California state capitol after two stalled reparations proposals for black residents were seemingly killed.

The development came during the final day of the legislative session in Sacramento Saturday, following hours of fierce lobbying.

Some two dozen protesters were seen inside and outside the building that day, airing shouts for the bills to move forward and chants for reparations 'now'.

Signs and shirts emblazoned with the same message were also on display, as lawmakers made their way to and from the Assembly floor.

Onlookers cry, meanwhile, emanated throughout, but The California Legislative Black Caucus would still later reveal in a statement how neither bill was moving forward, ahead of their midnight deadline.

State Sen. Steven Bradford, a member of the caucus, spoke to several local outlets Saturday from the senate floor, revealing what exactly stalled the process.

'We're at the finish line,' Bradford told reporters after penning Senate Bills 1403 and 1331 himself.

'And I think we as the Black Caucus owe it to the descendants of chattel slavery, we owe it to black Californians and Black Americans. to move this legislation forward and get it to the governor's desk,' he continued.

When asked about the holdup, Bradford blamed 'a fear of the veto.'

In a written statement, the Black caucus added, in part, 'The caucus was unable to participate in the legislative process collectively and only recently became aware of the concerns and issues with the bill.'

Rationalization is the 2nd greatest human drive. Any reason can work, if they want to riot.

Did California finally approach a bridge too far?

I doubt it.

They’ll just wait until after November to cross it.

True. Reparations for slavery and jim Crow is becoming a mainstream liberal cause. It’s coming out of the lunatic fringe.

Some places have already started Reparations programs.

It may be paused for now but will be pushed in the future.

..."Some two dozen protesters were seen inside and outside the building that day"...

Wow - a whole TWO DOZEN protesters! How on earth could the legislature refuse such an undeniably popular demand from 'The People'?

As soon as we get the tribes that captured them and traded them to the Europeans to pay up first...then we can talk.

Oh, and after we've deducted the cost of the Civil War, the cost of Reconstruction in the South, the cost of the ongoing welfare payments and the costs of prisons from the total they claim.

Seems like they'll be writing white folks a big check.

“Some two dozen protesters were seen inside”

Oh, no! Poor two dozen people! How are they going to get back on their feet from what happened to them 150 years ago now?

Uh oh. How are they gonna keep track of who already got their reoperations?

NEVER MIND, I figured it out on my own. They will all be wealthy doctors, attorneys, and engineers - so that’s how we’ll know they were repaid.

What about reparations for other groups?

For example, I have extended family whose ancestors were exploited in God forsaken coal camps in Appalachia. Do they get reparations for their ancestors suffering?

What about reparations for homosexuals? There was a time in this country when homosexuals were summarily fired from certain jobs. Are they deserving of reparations?

What about members of other minority groups? Many minority groups besides blacks can claim past discrimination.

So if the legal standard is going to be, that certain groups were not treated equally at some past time, are we supposed to pay reparations to their descendents, as we are on the verge of doing for black descendents of slaves?

They want to fine everyone who did not commit a crime including themselves for moral injustices committed a hundred years ago or more. Are only decedents of white slave owners going to be the ones to pay for this? No, Ca is going to pay it out and then cry to the Federal treasury to compensate them from tax dollars collected from EVERYONE in the nation including themselves and other so called oppressed races.

Since they want the innocent descendants of slave owners and non-slave owners to pay retroactive fines after the fact how about this?

How about the descendants of anyone who was convicted of a crime and given 50 years for that crime but did not live to serve out that whole sentence be required to finish that debt owed to society. Pick a member of your family to do it, but because your ancestor was found guilty someone has to finish that sentence innocent or not. It would the same thing as what they are trying to do right now.

Rescind the high fuel taxes for All California citizens and call it a consolation prize to the reparations moochers and grabbers. Let the lefties eat each other up over this as they earned every bit of the angst.

There’s no money left for it, and besides, they blacks aren’t needed any more.

The illegals have usurped them in importance (read usefulness) for the democrat party.

Interesting similarity to 1967. It ended with Governor Ronald Reagan signing an anti-gun rights bill into law.

Yeah, tough luck, homies.

There's $150K each for illegals to buy houses, though.

How do you say "gibs me dat" in spanish?
