Exactly. That is what the pro-cannabis ads say in Florida. When reading between the lines IMO means more government bureaucracy created to oversee it at every level state and local. Each will have their ‘cannabis oversight bureau’ saying it will not create any more expense for the taxpayer because the cannabis retailers will pay for it. They always say that then when the product is overtaxed and overregulated it becomes expensive and the street corner dealers will still be selling their cannabis without all the taxes. Leaving the taxpayers stuck with all the new bureaucracies siphoning taxpayers money and wondering why their cannabis utopia never came to be.
As for state lotteries they are one of the biggest deceptions. In Florida they advertise it goes to education but when you go to their website it tells you it goes to providing scholarships for students to go to college. So it is pickpocketing the lottery consumer to support college scholarships, a very narrow meaning of the word education.

Take heed of what happened in California. The profits from the California lottery were to go to improving our schools. We voted it in. That was almost twenty years ago. Today our schools are still terrible, bonds keep getting passed to improve them, and no one knows where all the lottery money goes...
