According to a Xinhua report, a sandstone door guardian statue, or Dvarapala, has been uncovered near the second gate at the Banteay Prei temple in northwestern Cambodia's Angkor Archaeological Park by researchers from the Apsara National Authority (ANA). The temple was constructed by the Khmer king Jayavarman VII (reigned 1181–1218) in the late twelfth or early thirteenth century. When the second gate's upper structure collapsed, the statue, which stood about five feet tall, was knocked over, said ANA archaeologist Chea Sarith. "Despite this, the statue remains in relatively good condition," he said. "However, it was found head down facing west, with the body broken into six pieces, including damage to the neck, forearm, left side, waist, and below the knees of both legs," he explained. "A part of its stick is also missing," he added.

Cute.
I started to go to Google translate, until I realized.
THAT PIC DOES NOT SHOW A STATUE “HEAD DOWN”.
Thailand? If you’ve seen one temple you’ve seen em’ all.
I spent a few days at Anghor Wat.
The damage by robbers is very great. The statues are very big and solid stone, thus they are very heavy. As a result the robbers just stole the heads off the statues.
The monkeys there are also very aggressive.
Not Thailand, next door in Cambodia.
This temple complex, or city in the jungle is very large and was totally lost to civilization as it was overgrown by the thick jungle.
I saw nothing similar to it in Thailand.
A former coworker spoke of aggressive troops of carniverous monkeys encountered by US service people during the Vietnam War.
All caps means yelling. No one else cares.
The problem is that tourists feed them. They get angry if you don’t feed them.
Kind of like Democrats with free handouts.
They probably knocked down this statue! :^)
