Counting Down my iTunes Play Count (VANITY) – Day #9
AC’s iTunes Directory | 8/26/2024 | Alberta's Child

Posted on 08/26/2024 10:54:33 AM PDT by Alberta's Child

Day #9 of the Top 50 songs on my iTunes playlist -- ranked in reverse order by play frequency from #50 to #1 and presented here on a series of FR threads. I'm posting them here on a new thread that compiles the growing list one day at a time over the next couple of months. I only post them on weekdays and may miss a day or two here and there, so it will take at least ten weeks to do this.

And to show my gratitude to the FR management for giving us all a forum to post vanity threads like this, I'll be making a contribution for the current quarterly fundraiser. I would encourage everyone on these threads to do the same! :-)

Have fun with this, folks!

(One thing I noticed when I started is that there was a tie at the end of the list for #50, so there will actually be 51 songs on 51 threads here.)

Pinging to those from the previous threads. Business travel for the summer has been completed. This song was made famous by the Chevrolet truck commercials since the 1980s, but it's an awesome tune on its own merit. Epic slide guitar starting around the 2:11 mark, and an iconic video anthem to all that was once great about America.

Let me know if you’d like to be added or removed from the ping list!

A perfectly suitable thread for cluster B’s on the book-o-faces.

...where it belongs

Don’t mind the gloomy folks, I like the thread. Not crazy about all of the tunes…but mine is just as eclectic.

I don’t listen to my ITunes much these days. But when I did, it was to play music in my car for my then pre-teen daughters. There is way, way too much N’Sync and Backstreet Boys on my list to publish. LOL

His songs are truly stories. Regret never seeing him live.

Thanks for keeping this thread going and I totally understand about work schedules interfering, I can't wait until I can retire and devote all of my time to my hobbies, which includes music.

Bob Seger is a mixed bag for me. I love his softer side such as "Shame On The Moon" which is written by Rodney Crowell - one of my alltime favorite artists. Or his "Fire Lake" from his 1980 album "The Distance." Of course, "Night Moves" put Bob Seger on the map is one of the rock classics of all time.

Most of his rockers however grate on my nerves, such as "Shakedown" and "Old Time Rock And Roll". They just seem sort of overly contrived and cliche to me. Just my opinion.

My #43 song is from that same period, an out-of-nowhere hit for Rocky Burnette from 1980 called "Tired Of Toein' The Line".

Rocky Burnette - Tired Of Toein' The Line

It was a big radio hit around the time I was graduating high school in June of that year. The song always puts me in a great mood and reminds me of that carefree summer between high school and Marine Corps boot camp.

My list so far...
