Lesson of RFK is how Democrats drive away their own voters

The withdrawal of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the presidential race and his endorsement of former President Donald Trump was yet another extraordinary moment in an election that has been anything but predictable.

Only a year ago, it would have been unthinkable that a sitting president would be effectively forced off a ticket and replaced by a candidate who did not secure a single vote for president.

Now, the nephew of John F. Kennedy and son of the Robert F. Kennedy has not just withdrawn from the Democratic Party but endorsed the Republican nominee.

Amidst all of the claimed “joy” of the Democratic National Convention, there is a sobering reality that is being ignored by the ecstatic press and pundits: this is how Democrats make Republicans.

There is an old expression that “a conservative is a liberal who has been mugged.”

Irving Kristol explained the neoconservative movement was built by Democrats “mugged by reality.”

Kennedy has not become a Republican but rather joined the roughly half of Americans now identifying as independents. While this country is solidly under the hold of a duopoly of power in the two main parties, only 25% of the country identify as Democrats, and 25% as Republicans.

Kennedy’s departure from the Democrats has been mocked in the press. However, when he spoke on his withdrawal, many of us who have been lifetime members of the party identified with his remarks.

How does Trump keep them? Lower taxes is not a sexy subject but his suggestion that we gotta take care of the achievers who pull the wagon makes sense along with taking care of our vets.

I’d turn the VA hospital system over to an HMO like Kaiser or Blue Shield, one that has participants in every community.
Achievers-I’ll repeat. Tax free withdrawal from our IRA’s provided we got a million in them. Think of it like releasing oil from the SPR to lower prices-didn’t work. Allow it on one specific day, say April 16. We’ll have to pass it to see it’s effects.

If we turn it over to one provider, it would end up like Boeing.

His biggest funder is the same as Trump’s biggest funder. You don’t think Trump co-ordinated this entire campaign? He was introduced on a theory that backfired when it turned out only Republicans were stupid enough to listen to this human turd.

RFK’s entire platform is the vaccine conspiracy nonsense. I know a lot of Freepers buy into it, those who survived Covid anyway, but that does not make it true.

Neilia Biden died under mysterious circumstances, driving head long into a semi truck with 3 children in the station wagon days before Christmas.

You’re right. Disperse it amongst several.

The lesson is that if you're outside of The Party and refuse to adopt its ways, you're a racist, sexist, misogynist, homophobic, xenophobic extremist enemy of the people; and if you're a Party Insider who refuses to keep going along, you're a traitor against democracy.

When did Trump say vaccines were a conspiracy?

He never did.

Black voters are now realizing that all the stuff promised to them by the Democratic Party is now being diverted to the illegals, who the Democrats see as their new loyal base. Blacks are being played as chumps for decades of solidly voting for Democrats.

On what planet was RFKjr running as a Democrat? His entire platform was the same deluded conspiratorial garbage that has animated to Trump base for the last four years. He was funded by Trump on the cynical expectation that Democrats were still so besotted with the Kennedy name that he could split the Democratic party. He has even had three wives one who died under mysterious circumstances. Once it was obvious that he was drawing more votes away from Trump than from Harris, they pulled the plug on the drug addicted loser.

I gave you credit for this post, consistent with your screen name.
