President Vladimir Putin has a message for the Russian region where Ukraine has seized more than 1,000 square kilometers of territory: Don’t blame me.
Speaking via videoconference to a meeting of Russian politicians, including the governors of Kursk, Belgorod and Bryansk regions, Putin said the “security issues” that had arisen in Kursk were “problems that are the responsibility of the security forces.”
He added that Moscow would work with “local and regional authorities” and “security agencies” to “play a positive role in achieving the goals that we have here.”

The Kursk incursion took so many troops from the defense of the Donbas that the front lines there can no longer be held up. It has also diverted scarce artillery ammunition which the Donbas defenders now lack. The Ukrainian defense in Donbas is currently crumbling with the Russian side taking several villages per day.
There was some hope expressed that Russia would divert troops from its Donbas attack towards Kursk. But the Kursk operation is on Russian ground where the Russian army is allowed to use conscript unit to defend the country. Conscripts are not allowed to take part in the operation within Ukraine. This gives the Russian army a large reserve that it can use against the incursion.
Ukraine burns off some of its last, best troops invading territory it can't hold while the Ukrainian frontlines in Donbass deteriorate at much faster rate.
No need to apologize Vlad; just do like Biden/Harris do regarding Afghanistan and "celebrate" the "victory".
Putin passes ruble. Not stronk leader.
That’s how I read the situation. The closest I have come to warfare is cardboard war games, so take what I say with a grain of salt, but this advance into Kursk seems like a typical novice wargamer’s mistake.
Big tank battle during WW2 happened there.
Not being able to put away a clearly inferior opponent is worse than losing to a near equal.
Undoubtedly, people are starting to talk, and we should not be surprised if Putin retires, perhaps even defenestrates.
Why do you keep pasting this on every Russia/Ukraine thread?
The 5 stages of 🇷🇺 grief over Kursk occupation
1 “This crosses critical red line”
2 “NATO bears full responsibility”
3 “The West will face terrible consequences”
4 “We remind you Russia is the world’s largest nuclear power”
5 “This is entirely meaningless non-factor”
The Kursk Pocket will go down in infamy just the ‘23 Counteroffensive debacle you were cheerleading all the way to oblivion. Neither were Putin’s fault. This is the fault of the rainbow warriors running the Pentagon.
Global Warming is at fault.
NATO planned this Ukrainian invasion, that’s why it’s been so successful.
NATO is also weak, gay, woke, & not a real army like Russia’s.
Because they work for Putin/Chicoms.
1000 square kilometers is about the size of a US county.
ZEEPER FOLLIES PINGLIST!
(((PING!)))
... to be added to the best Zeeper-provided entertainment since Paul Shanklin parodies, ping me bro.
This reminds me of Hitler’s rants in the bunker while Germany collapsed.
Always somebody’s else’s fault in a dictatorship!🙄🙄🙄
Politico 😂😂😂😂😂
