Halle Bery said in a video interview with Wired that Pierce Brosnan “restored” her faith in men during the making of their James Bond movie, 2002’s “Die Another Day.” The action film marked Brosnan’s final outing as 007 after a seven-year run that kicked off with 1995’s “GoldenEye.” Berry played Bond girl Jinx in the movie.
“He will always be my Bond, always,” Berry said when asked about her experience on the movie. “I’m a Pierce Brosnan fan. He restored my faith in men on that movie. There couldn’t be a human who is more of a gentleman than Pierce Brosnan.”
“Bond wasn’t on my wish list, no, not to be in one, but I loved the movies, always,” Berry continued. “Having been in one, I feel like I’m a part of cinematic history. … Those movies are iconic. They will forever be a part of our history, and I’m really honored to have been a part of one, especially with Pierce.”
Berry’s Jinx in “Die Another Day” proved to be such a fan favorite among Bond fans that franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson started planning for Berry to get her own spinoff movie. But Variety reported in 2020: “The plan was foiled when MGM got cold feet about the film’s $80 million budget. That decision left Broccoli incensed. One of her main goals as steward of 007 has been to shake off some of the chauvinism that characterized Bond’s appearances in the novels and early films.”
“It was very disappointing,” Berry later told Variety about losing the Jinx movie. “It was ahead of its time. Nobody was ready to sink that kind of money into a Black female action star. They just weren’t sure of its value. That’s where we were then.”
Berry currently stars in the Netflix action movie “The Union” alongside Mark Wahlberg. Watch her Wired video interview in the post below.
Yes
And I was about to say the gal in that movie was much prettier
[Pam Grier]
Yes. And I think she was in one of the “Bill and Ted” movies - nice-looking lady
I wanted to toss M into that North Korean prison.
She could show 007 how it was to be done.
Put your racism card back in the deck, cupcake. It's "female" action stars, period ... because action stars is a male domain. Sorry if you don't understand that. I have no interest in seeing women pretending to be as tough and bad ass like men - fighting, kicking, dominating. It's fake and stupid.
The moment they went and did a ‘story’ that went on movie to movie, the Craig movies got clunky. Loose plot threads are fine like spectre group, a villain popping up a couple times like Jaws, but Bond should not have dense lore to keep track of over three or four movies.
A lot of it is due to bad writing.
Also, Bond is not really Bond anymore. He's supposed to be a spy. Instead he's more like an action hero. Like Jason Bourne or John Wick.
It did flop, yes. Official reason: she wasn’t the Catwoman from Batman. Well, duh....Patience Phillips is not Selina Kyle; they were two separate characters.
I saw it and enjoyed it.
I think it got panned because it portrayed gays unfavorably.
I lost interest in James Bond movies when Daniel Craig showed up - he was a poor choice - just unwatchable
I had forgotten that Telly Savalas was in 1969’s version “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” as Ernst Stavro Blofeld
Everyone is welcome....
Didn't John Wayne describe actresses as high priced hookers?
One of these days the DNR is going to bust you for poaching those undersized ones. Throw em back until theyre full grown.
He didn’t try to sleep with her.

Your entire comment has nothing to do with the point I made in my comment. Maybe you directed it at the wrong person or you have a reading comprehension issue.
She was too thin for him though
What racism card? He was quoting the article. And in case you didn’t notice, that line in the article was stated by Halle Berry, so you should talk to her about her racism.
I really did like that scene. I am a Russian 96C and some of the stuff they talked aboutin the movie was the same stuff they were talking about in the SERE training at Ft Huachuca.
When I got a bit older I got it. :)
To both of youse, I was responding to Berry, not the poster of the article.

In that case I’m glad I did not send my first draft comment which was a response to being called a racist cupcake. It really did appear you were directing it at me. But, okay. We can be friends again.
