I've been a fan of watching YouTube accounts of Near Death Experiences lately. There are certain common elements:
Various neuroscientists have stated that simple biological processes of death produce these effects. Maybe the tunnel and the light can be explained by this, but the rest? No way. I cannot think that mere biological processes could manifest such a detailed series of accounts. Nor is there any evolutionary benefit to these processes, obviously... you are dead, right? Evolution is highly unlikely to be a factor here.
So this, to me, seems like quasi-scientific proof of a God. Now, religions have added all sorts of nonsense around these concepts, since almost to a person, the subject of an NDE describes a God that is utterly nonjudgemental and loving. So, take the 10 Commandments: Seems like the 10 Commandments were written to make OUR lives better, and it is not some cosmic scorecard that God is judging us on.
One person I know personally that had an NDE, would not talk a lot about it, but the one thing he did relate is that 'all the nonsense religion spouts? The beings on the other side, they don't care. Just be loving.'
And that aligns with what Jesus said: To love God with all your heart, and to love your fellow man.
There are enough disparities for me to wonder if we 'forget' part of the experiences. One middle-aged lady told her mother of the experience, but a year later, said she no longer remembered a large part of it.
I'm more interested in the similarities.
And as far as cultural backgrounds, kinda makes sense to me. God is GOD to us, Buddha to a Bhuddist, even Allah to an Islamic (although I personally suspect Allah to be the devil). Other spiritual beings are Angels to Christians, Guides to the agnostics, and so on.
The experiences all have subtle differences. One lady was on a sloped plot of land with lovely trees and flowers, others in a void of black, and so on. However, I am looking at the similarities. That's what demonstrates God to me.
Furthermore, many people do not remember experiencing anything at all.
“Well, remember, some people experience Hell in their NDE’s.”
Glenn Beck had a podcast a few weeks ago with John Burke, who has written a book about his research into NDE’s. One of the funny comments was that “hell’s doors are locked from the inside.” In other words, people choose to create & stay in their own personal hell. Forgiveness & love are all we need. These reports do make the thought of dying much less scary.
I’m so glad I could be a messenger for God this morning, for you.
I’m also getting a message from God: DO NOT do your computer power build today. You’ll mess it up. I got about $1700 in parts sitting on the kitchen table.
I’m asking (praying) for His guidance and an exception. I really want to do this build today.
I got some pretty unmistakable messages this morning, so I’m really undecided.
I want you to know that I love you, even if you are a persnickety dingleberry!
You’ve never done comedy. LOL
Sure. I can come to Britain someday, if you want to show me in person.
Provided, of course, there is no warrant for my arrest for what I post everywhere!
Glad you enjoyed this post!
I had something similar....
My father died in 1987 of brain cancer. I was 24 and had a very hard time letting go. About three weeks post funeral, I woke up from a dream of his funeral including the “open casket”. It was around 2:30 am, “Another dream of the same thing”, I thought. Then while lying in bed, I felt something I could not describe what was to come. It was a powerful feeling that something was about to happen.
The sounds and lights I am going to describe all happened at the same time. First a brilliant white light appeared in the room. Encompassing the entire room, it was the whitest light I ever saw. Then at the same time a humming sound mixed in with a “static” sound. The static sound was similar to the sound when you separate some clothes after it comes out of the dryer. My heart felt as it was pounding so hard I thought it was going to leave my chest.
As this was happening, I heard just five words. “Judi, don’t think about me”. This was 100% my dad’s voice. Then everything stopped. All the light and sounds vanished. I know I was awake and not a dream because I woke up my husband who was completely asleep. For those quick moments, I think my dad was trying to let me know he was okay.
36 years later, I know my dad’s visit was real. I think religions in general miss the mark of what really is important in terms of what God wants from us. The bottom line is to treat others with love. It is not about dogmas and doctrine.
From close friends and relatives, over many decades of adult life I have heard credible accounts of ghosts, premonitions, demonic activity, psychics, and a vivid dream that was an apparent after death communication.
As a boy, I heard a near death experience related by a friend of the family who survived a small plane crash. Leaving his body broken and trapped in the downed aircraft, he walked toward a bright cloud in front of the wreckage and met Jesus.
There, he was given the choice of whether to return to life, with a warning that he was badly hurt and would have pain and a long recovery if he did so. When I heard the story, the man was still on crutches and in a cast after months in the hospital and rehab.
Like our family friend, some NDEs report direct personal contact with Jesus, dead friends and relatives, or with a Christian God as Father. Other NDEs involve contact with a universal spirit usually referred to as Source. Heaven in some respect is a frequent but not universal part of the near death experience.
Some NDEs are negative and may involve a version of Hell or oppression by evil spirits. In such an experience, a proud atheist was liberated and returned to life after calling on Jesus. After recovering from a massive heart attack, he resigned his tenured professorship, pursued a degree in theology from a fundamentalist Baptist college, and became an ordained minister.
A related category of what may be called consciousness studies is based on past life hypnotic regression, afterlife hypnotic progression, and evidential mediumship. Dr. Barry Weiss in Many Lives, Many Masters and Dr. Michael Newton in Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls offer a detailed explanation of their work and theories in that field. It is New Age kind of stuff but, with care, can be reconciled to traditional Christian religious faith.
Moreover, although poorly understood by the public, quantum mechanics treats consciousness as genuine and in fundamental respects as integral with material existence. The science can also be taken as supporting the Christian view of human life that our souls are real and are connected to our body and survive death.
Indeed, we are not the only possible conscious entities, with God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, angels, ghosts, and demons also broadly plausible, as well as conscious souls for aliens and animals. More broadly, supernatural senses and events and doings can be explained as expressions of the power of consciousness and of spiritual entities in the material world.
Out of body experiences can be seen as instances in which the human consciousness is temporarily separated from the body but without death or physical trauma. Carrying on the work of Robert A. Monroe, the Monroe Institute is a leading center for expanded states of consciousness.
By manipulating hearing with specific sound frequencies, the Monroe Institute offers controlled out of body experiences. The hemi-sync equipment and training for out of body experiences can even be ordered over the internet from the Monroe Institute and several other vendors.
The validity of out of body experiences and perceptions was explored by the US government and used during the Cold War as a form of psychic spying known as remote viewing. Some people seem to naturally have the ability to perceive spirits and to have out of body experiences and extrasensory perceptions.
Those who have such abilities may work as evidential mediums, meaning that they engage in controlled mediumship in a way that generates proof and excludes fraud. With care, one can find such people and consult with them.
Psalm 103:11-12
21st Century King James Version
11 For as the Heaven is high above the Earth, so great is His mercy toward them that fear Him.
12 As far as the East is from the West, so far hath He removed our transgressions from us.

Wow! Powerful accounts of communication from beyond!
I get routine messages from God. I even got one this morning. You just have to listen for them.
The one this morning was pretty amazing. Don’t understand why but God loves the heck outta me!
Psalm 103:12
It’s not North-South because if you keep going North, you’ll eventually wind up South and if you keep going South, you’ll eventually end up going North.
But if you go East, you’ll never go West.
And if you go West, you’ll never go East.
As an aside, the ever-increasing mountain of anecdotal evidence of NDEs and their differences makes me wonder if the people who have them aren't still tightly bound up in their human identities...hence the varieties of experiences that seem to be related to their "earthly" belief systems.
It would be nice to hear some NDE accounts of people who went very, very deeply into the "afterlife" and then returned. In fact, went so deeply into the "beyond" that their earthly identities began to dissolve. I keep looking for such accounts but haven't found any notable ones yet. Of course, such accounts might not exist or I might be looking in the wrong places or looking for the wrong kind of experiences altogether.;-)
Still, it is a fascinating subject. Thanks for posting this thread.
Having had several NDE’s and been a part of NDE research for about 15 years, I will say that many accounts are real and many are fake.
I’m friends with many of the leading researchers, including those at University of Virginia Charlottesville and University of Arizona. I’ve attended most of the International Association of Near Death Studies(IANDS) Conferences in the past 15 years and presented to many of their groups.
I have not found one person among the thousands of experiencers from around the world that had an NDE like mine. I never fully returned totally to my physical body and have been straddling the fence between the two realities for over 35 years.
As a result, the contents of other people’s souls, including the stored memories that constitute the life review process are physical to me when they are near me. When attending the IANDS conferences, I feel and experience the memories of other people’s NDE’s just by being near them. (That’s how I know if they are real or not.)
Many claimed NDE’s are actually just ego rescues. That includes the experiences of those writing books and lecturing on their NDE.
I personally know most of the people who have written on this topic.
The process is very real.
A few tidbits to help people put the pieces together.
The tunnel that people experience with a light at the other end is a portal that opens through the layer of darkness that exists between the earthly realm and the Heavenly realm. It serves as a barrier to keep unclean souls from approaching Heaven.
There are many levels of Heaven. My Father’s Mansion has many rooms.
The three days of darkness mentioned as the 9th plague on Egypt in Exodus and in Revelation re the 6th seal is merely this layer of darkness coming to earth. This event must preceed Heaven coming to earth.(per the Lord’s Prayer) I recently had visions of this happening soon.
The life review process is merely a person’s conscious awareness expanding through the stored memories in a person’s soul as it is no longer restricted to the physical body. The memories are stored in reverse sequence with conception memories being stored about 15 ft from a person’s physical body in the outer perimeter of their soul.
These are all physical to me since my NDE. If I reach out and touch a traumatic stored memory in a person’s soul it often knocks the person over, even though I am many feet away from them.
Many souls get stuck here as ghosts or wandering spirits. Often they attach to people.
Jesus spoke of demonic spirits and unclean spirits. Demonic spirits never had a physical body and cannot enter Heaven. Unclean spirits can be redeemed and guided to Heaven for further cleansing.
As a result of my experiences, I frequently guide souls through the layer of darkness when they die. The Holy Spirit does all the work, not me.
Just guided a man who died of lung cancer across earlier this week. His soul came to me after he left his body. I was distracted and didn’t notice him approaching until his soul triggered his symptoms in me and I got an extreme coughing spell and difficulty breathing. I’ve known him for many years and was unaware he had died July 30th.
This barely touches the surface of the expanded reality that exists.
PS. I’ve had people who were Jewish, Buddhist, and Hindu tell me that they met Jesus during their NDE. Most couldn’t share that publically due to the impact upon their families.
Jesus is very real and here now, but most cannot see Him.
Beautifully written.
Thanks for sharing.
Had one- did not leave my body to watch what was going on (I was in convulsions from extremely high fever due to peritonitis)
There was no tunnel, just a descending into blackness and heat
No peace and joy, and no review of life
Did communicate with “a voice “
Didn’t have a choice to rejoin life.
My experience was horrible, and I ended up in the “outer darkness” with the weirdest feeling of non existence BUT an awareness of alone-ness thst was overwhelming.
I won’t go into details as I’ve detailed them several times on fr. But I do want to say that it is my be,eif that ndes are caused by misfiring synapses as the brain winds down due to trauma- in my case a 106 degree fever die to poisoning from peritonitis.
What I experienced was unbiblical (ie, had to pass a test to be let out of hell- which I failed) the experience really shook me because of how real it seemed. The docs and nurses who revived me received an addled “sermon” after I remained consciousness- and they thought I was nuts and 9ne doc in particular scolded my parents for “indoctrinating” me and cuasing fear. thing is though none of ehat I experienced was even taught to me, and I had no concept of what hell was or would be like, so the doc was out of line saying what he did to them.
Anyways. I know there are cases where the person sees things that supposedly they “couldn’t possibly have seen in the room from their bed”, and can’t discount those as there are demonic forces that van accomplish things like that, znd God could even give a person such an experi3nce for his own purposes, but I think a vast amount of nde’sare due to misfiring synapses which cause similar experiences, visual experiences in folks around the world. I know because of the unbiblical nature of my experience that it didn’t actually happen, but the mind did experience the things it did due to the brain going bonkers due to lack of blood or oxygen or whatever, plus the hallucinations due to fever.
And NO, 8m not a never trumper lol!
“Most examples detail Entities that some describe as ‘angels’ and others describe as ‘guides’.”
That pretty well describes what I saw. Total blackness with...figures floating around. I could not tell if they were angels or relatives or something else. There was no light at the end of the tunnel. One thing I will never forget, and there are no words to really describe it; the total lack of pain or stress. It was entirely 100% peaceful like I have never come close to experiencing.
I felt like I was with Jesus and he said Well done my good and faithful servant.
Great. I gotta face a critique from him at my Judgement?
