Day #7 of the Top 50 songs on my iTunes playlist -- ranked in reverse order by play frequency from #50 to #1 and presented here on a series of FR threads. I'm posting them here on a new thread that compiles the growing list one day at a time over the next couple of months. I only post them on weekdays and may miss a day or two here and there, so it will take at least ten weeks to do this.
And to show my gratitude to the FR management for giving us all a forum to post vanity threads like this, I'll be making a contribution for the current quarterly fundraiser. I would encourage everyone on these threads to do the same! :-)
Have fun with this, folks!
(One thing I noticed when I started is that there was a tie at the end of the list for #50, so there will actually be 51 songs on 51 threads here.)
#45 -- "Your Love" by The Outfield … Click Here (Rumble version)
#50T -- "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel
#50T -- "Fly Over States" by Jason Aldean
#49 -- "Sara" by Fleetwood Mac
#48 -- Bagpipe Medley by the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band (2009 World Pipe Band Championships)
#47 -- "How I'll Always Be" by Tim McGraw
#46 -- "Midnight On The Interstate" by Trampled By Turtles
#45 -- "Your Love" by The Outfield
Let me know if you’d like to be added or removed from the ping list!
They were also a rare pipe band with a female bass drummer. She must have been built like a fullback. LOL.
The pipers were out of breath but the drummers gotta be in good shape.
While this was The Outfield's biggest hit, they are hardly a one-hit wonder, as they had several other top 40 U.S. hits during the 1986-1990 period. Though a British band, they did not have similar chart success in Great Britain for whatever reason.
Also appreciate your Rumble links. I did not realize Rumble is now hosting music videos so I'll look there first before going to YouTube. Got to support the good guys as much as possible!
My #45 song in terms of iTunes plays happens to be from the same era
Chris Isaak - Wicked Game (1989)
Found the Rumble link above under "Wicked Games" however the proper title of the song is "Wicked Game".
This is one of those haunting songs that never gets tired. I like listening to it on late night drives, when clouds are scudding under a bright moon. This song was released in 1989 but became famous a couple years later after being featured in a David Lynch movie (Lynch passed away just a few days ago by the way().
So below are my songs so far...
Pretty nondescript list you’ve got there.
Funny thing about "Your Love" by The Outfield is that I know exactly why it's been played so much over the years. I crack up every time I hear it because Tony Lewis, the lead singer, bears a striking resemblance to a former boss of mine from back in the day. LOL.
I don’t know if it’s nondescript or not. It was assembled almost at random, as I describe at the top.
Music is very personal. Many of my favorite songs would be considered obscure by most people but for me, they are part of the soundtrack of my life.
Also, before anybody rushes in to correct my previous post, filmmaker David Lynch is not dead. I read an article a few days ago about him having terminal emphysema (a nasty way to go) but he is apparently still suffering from it, not dead from it yet. I wish him well as I really appreciate his work - especially his Twin Peaks TV series from the early 1990s.
Actually two-hit wonder, they also did “Say It Isn’t So”.
Saw them play a frathouse at UF when I was there.
