This invasion to nowhere is the best yet. While losing ground daily along a 600 mile front, waste men and material putting on a show that accomplishes nothing.

Has any nation ever won a war by fighting purely defensively? In any time in history? If so please list them.

Russia pretty much did in WWII.

That was essentially a defensive war until the Western allies bombed Germany into oblivion.
