NASA astronauts stranded due to Boeing's faulty Starliner received horrifying news on Wednesday about their return mission to Earth.

Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have already been trapped on the International Space Station (ISS) for more than two months, may not come back to Earth until February 2025.

The US space agency revealed a contingency plan that would launch a two-person crew on SpaceX's Crew-9 mission in September, but still wouldn't bring the crew home until months later.

The announcement is another highly embarrassing blow for the embattled Boeing, which is dealing with a spate of issues plaguing its commercial jets.

What an international joke we’ve become, I’m surprised the world still accepts our currency.

I remember reading about Obola’s “NASA Muslim Outreach Program”, whatever that was. I guess now astronauts can figure out the direction of Mecca, even when they’re in space.

8 days is turning into 8 months, with no advanced planning to manage their earth-bound daily affairs. If they’re both married then their spouses can maybe handle things, but still. What a hassle.

“Those in NASA who planned this mission are the most responsible...”

NASA mission...under democrats ...is DEI and Moslem outreach.

boeing removed the auto docking/undocking sequence from the flight software. why not sure anyone knows, an astronaut has to push a button to undock..

“issues”??

Issues my shiny white backside. The sonomabeach is broken, unuseable, and they can’t even throw it away.

Boeing used to be run by engineers. “social engineering” and MBAs have ruined the company.
I’ve seen some good MBAs but they are very few and very far between. Most are losers.

NASA has the stranded folks measurements. How fast can Musk whip up suits for them?

I see turf wars on the way, just to make a bigger mess.

Moslem outreach for NASA. I somewhat recall when then president Obama brought that up. Most people were looking at each other with question marks and exclamation points above our heads.

“What in the world do Muslims and NASA have to do with each other, and why are we in the states supposed to
‘be concerned’ about it? What is the Middle East contributing to our Space Ventures? If it’s money, then what do they expect from America in return? Quid Pro Quo, don’t ya know!

I was thinking the same thing. Our allies are fools if they think they can count on us to defend them.

In the old days the space program had contingency planning to a ridiculous degree—and sometimes they had to implement those plans.

There was a plan so the capsule could be undocked from the space station automatically (no humans inside) but for reasons only known to Boeing they did not load the software required for this. As it is, someone needs to be inside the capsule to undock but the engineers don’t know if it will be safe to return to earth in the capsule.

On the other end, you have Elon who sends up starship after starship, watching them blow up on the launch pad or in flight while the MSM makes fun of him and plays up each failure.

******************************************************

NASA got to the Saturn Five before making something that didn’t blow up on the first few tries.

I’m an Old Fart. I remember that stuff.

No, we are fools to have "allies" whose reason for existence is for US to defend THEM.

Allies are supposed to have mutually beneficial arrangements, not to serve as a pretext for a world-spanning empire.

In regards to SpaceX: the presstitutes need to google “iterative engineering”.
