KHOU reports that the fatal crash, believed to be the first for the new Tesla Cybertruck, occurred at 1:45 a.m. on Monday, just off the east Texas coast. According to police reports, the trendy but troubled EV veered off Cedar Parkway in the Baytown area for unknown reasons and crashed into a concrete drainage channel or culvert. The intense fire that followed left the owner’s body and the truck’s identifying features, such as license plates and VIN, unrecognizable among the char.
Local authorities, along with the federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), are investigating the cause of the deadly incident. The Cybertruck, once touted by Tesla CEO Elon Musk as “apocalypse proof,” has faced numerous safety issues since its debut in late November 2023, requiring no less than four recalls...

Yes, I just watched it on YouTube a couple nights ago.
When you have a 90% market share, the majority of the problems will be yours.
I saw part of that.
I’d still rather have Tucker’s old manual-trans Chevy he showed at the beginning.
It’s nice they live where things are close enough that range isn’t an issue.
We define rural a little differently where we live.
I’ve seen videos of an EV simply going along the road and the battery explodes. An explosion of smoke and then the inside is engulfed in fire. There was not even a minor crash incident.
Drive one at your own risk.
I should have said videos of EVs, plural.
Tesla provides a free BBQ for all of its customers
What I can’t find out is if this was a front impact crash or a bottom scrape. They talk about a culvert, then don’t explain what that means. 19 out of 20 times you are going to survive a major bottom scrape in an ICE car. I would not place bets on your chances in an EV.
Wonder if the fire started before the crash...
Had to have been a D or we would know by now.
Note to self: Remember not to drive a Tesla off a steep grade into concrete at a hundred miles an hour. It may have some advantages over other vehicles, but it does not give you superpowers.
any fool who actually buys one of those ridiculous “trucks” almost deserves to be incinerated alive ...
They’re the most butt ugly vehicle I’ve ever seen.
Bar none.

I saw my first one today. — owned by kid’s new orthodontist, paid for by braces. That stainless steel spam can isn’t looking so great even in this arid climate — in intense need of vinyl covering or a good machine polish. And that huge expanse of dash underneath the barely sloped windshield baking in the sun — probably about 160° surface temp. Plus, surprisingly little ground clearance although I assume it jacks up for off-road.
Almost
But nobody "deserves" that do they. I used to think that is what separates us from the animal kingdoms. Democratic Socialists are making me question. They have direct responsibility for the murder of Hundreds of millions of human beings. Add in the now 75+ million in this country alone that never got to take their first breath.
There would never be a "need" to import a rapugee/stabugee if they were allowed to live. Imnsho.

Phoenix, I presume.
Is that the same one them raccoons mistook for a trash dumpster the other day?
I’ll wait for Dr. Grande’s analysis.
But at least it was ‘saving the planet’ right?
Off the coast? Was he driving in the water?
