BREAKING NEWS 6'6" monster schoolboy learns his fate for beating up tiny female school aide for taking his Nintendo Switch
Daily Mail UK ^ | August 7, 2024 | James Cirrone

The monster special needs student who pummeled his teacher after she took his Nintendo Switch has been sentenced to five years in a Florida state prison.

Brendan Depa, who was 17 at the time of the beating, tackled teacher's aide Joan Naydich, 59, in February 2023 and unleashed dozens of punches to her body and head, leaving her seriously bruised and unconscious.

Depa, who is 6'6' and 270 pounds, has become a legal adult since the brutal attack he perpetrated at Matanzas High School in Palm Coast, Florida, a moderately sized town near Daytona Beach.

He pleaded no contest to the aggravated battery charges against him October and was originally due to be sentenced in May 2024, but the judge delayed the hearing so he could hear from more witnesses.

Arguably the most crucial testimony came from Naydich herself, who told the court: 'Brendan Depa's actions that day has caused me to lose a job that I had for almost 19 years, lose my financial security, lose my health insurance.'

Naydich, a mother of two, has previously called for her teenaged attacker to be locked up for the maximum sentence of 30 years.

But the decision from Judge Terence Perkins to give Depa 25 years less than that could have do with the exculpatory testimony that came from his mother and arguments from his defense team.

Leann Depa, his adoptive mother, said she had warned the school about her son's laundry list of triggers.

According to her, 'electronics' was his biggest trigger.

'I had told the school that being hungry was a trigger, that noise was a trigger, that being told no was a trigger, that being corrected in front of other people was a trigger, and electronics was a huge trigger,' she said on the stand.

I agree completely. There are a few cases in which autistic children can be taught together with healthy children, especially if the former are extraordinarily intelligent (and the class bullies are unequivocally told to knock.it.off) - but with other autistics, it’s simply not an option.

Sad but true.🙁

Dreadful. The poor lady🙁

And I had no clue that public schools get their funding according to the number of students they teach.

Thus, I would always homeschool my children, whether they were healthy or not - if it is an option, which might not always be the case, alas.

I love how “autism” is the big excuse now. That’s what they are saying about the guy in England who killed those little girls. I’m autistic, so I get to beat and murder people. Don’t tell me no, that’s a trigger!

LOCK. THEM. UP. And do not let them out. The end.

i pray that the young man learns humility, turns his life around, and finds God in prison.

Never going to happen. The kid was adopted thru the foster care system at the age of 5 months and suffers from Level 3 Autism. Who knows the history of his birth mother, maybe an alcoholic or drug addict.

He doesn't belong in a prison, he belongs in a mental health facility/

Here's his history:

Yep that nonsense about low IQ being an exception or modifier for punishment is nonsense.

In fact a violent low IQ person is probably going to be HARDER to be rehabilitated back into society.

As a nation we were much more pragmatic in the early 1800s.

Poor baby. Can't go around triggering him.

Manipulators learn at a very young age how to effectively manipulate and this kid learned from an early age on that he could use his anger and size to intimidate people into pandering to him.

Those aren't triggers. He's a brat who gets his way by threatening others.

“...He will learn in the prison the meaning of the word no...”

He’s 6’ 6” and as strong as a Sasquatch. Other inmates in prison will be calling him “Sir.”

Yes, he will. After his release it will be something like, "please don't hurt me!!!" ... no.

"Sir"? Not a chance. Strength will not matter when it is 6+ on one.

Nothing I’ve seen suggests that this poor woman has received effective advice to pursue liability actions against the correct parties.

To pursue action against a child is a fool’s errand, both then & now, especially given the facts which were not known at the time of the assault.

The administration holds all liability in this case and, again, nothing I’ve seen demonstrates action: Nobody lost their job and nobody has been sued (yet).

Appalling.

That kid needs to be in a cage.

Alas, the gift of high intelligence is not always coupled with having a good home life and parents who know what they are doing.
