The IT centers that run AI computers require a huge amount of electricity to run - not just for the computers/servers, but for the cooling required to keep the computers/servers running and not overheating...and they do get hot.
It, and cloud storage associated uses ridiculous amounts of power. I believe overall that it’s up to something like 30% or more of total generation.
I’m working on occasion on a transformer layout for an adjacent server/storage farm in Santa Clara, and it DOESN’T have power available to it out to 2026 at this point...
