In my 30's I had to quit he 501's. Now it's either 33"(waist) 505's or 32" 559's. Since everyone walking around in them exposes their size in the back above the pocket I'm inclined to go with the 559's. Levis stores are limited in their selection. I buy them at Macy's where there's an attendant sometimes along with a bigger selection. Hard to figure.

Whatever happened to Travis? Competition musta scared him away as the younger generation looks elsewhere. I'll never give up on them.

Just keep in mind that the Levi-Straus corporation is a big fan of male anorexia, victim disarmament, and homosexuality.

Yup! Stopped buying them way way back when they embraced the homo movement. Went with wrangler which are lasting much longer (I buy their work jeans- Riggs workwear jeans I think they are called pretty tough jeans”

I don’t know what wranglers policy is about lgbtq, but I do think that they havent pushed support for them like Levi’s has

Check out wrangler- lot tougher jeans, way better material, and cheaper too- wait for sales for even cheaper prices.

If I were working on a farm or a ranch, I guess I’d wear jeans.

But I don’t work on a farm or a ranch.

I have stopped buying Levi’s (and the only pair that I now own was bought for me as a gift by my wife, who was informed, in a respectful way, to never buy that particular brand again). Instead, I am buying the Old Navy jeans, as they are far more comfortable, last quite a long time and quite a bit cheaper. Besides, I don’t feel like supporting the ultra woke agenda of Levi Strauss.

It is amazing to me how many businesses make the stupid move of coming out for or against particular politicians or particular issues, on which the American public is pretty much divided into two equal camps. When I grew up in the 60s and 70s, the watchword for all businesses was to not discuss politics or religion with customers, as you are almost guaranteed to lose half of them. It is a stupidly suicidal action, and if I was a shareholder, I would complain relentlessly. This, of course, does not mean that the individuals who are owners and or employees of any business can’t have their own political preferences, and donate and vote for their favored candidates or parties. It’s just monumentally stupid for a business to take a stand on some issue or other, and lose a good part of their customers as a result.

Does Wrangler make a button fly? I’ve worn 501s since the ‘70s, but have been thinking to try a pair of Wranglers. I don’t particularly like zippers.

I quit wearing 501s in the 80s because they were too tight around the thighs if I wanted a good waist fit. To get a comfortable fit in the legs I had to deal with a sagging butt.

Those pants were clearly made for guys with really skinny legs.

The problem with Wranglers is they have a big folded double-stitched seam on the outside of the leg that looks kind of clunky. Levis have either a double stitched seam that’s hidden on the inside of the leg (505) or single stitched on both sides (501).

I don’t but Levis jean but I buy Wranglers and Rustlers and it seems to me in about the last five years they have changed the fly construction so they don’t cover the zipper like they used to and the slider pull tab is smaller and either ends up instead of down and jams up and has to be freed.

The article mentions they’ve got a cut now called 501 ‘93 Straight which is like a 501 tweaked with a roomier leg. Might be worth checking out.

One thing about the 501 is Levis never went to “vanity sizing” in the waist. A 32 in a 501 is a true 32 by golly. They don’t add in an extra inch or two of room like much of the industry does.
