U.S. job growth cooled sharply in July while the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to the highest level in nearly three years.

The Labor Department reported Friday that employers added 114,000 jobs in July, missing the 175,000 gain forecast by LSEG economists. The unemployment rate also unexpectedly inched higher to 4.3% against expectations that it would hold steady at 4.1%.

It marked the highest level for the jobless rate since October 2021.

Unexpected? It's always 'Unexpected' when Democrats are in office. The economy is in trouble, and the Fed needs to cut rates before it snowballs. The trouble is they can't now because it will be seen as a political move. The 'Green New Deal' and the 'Inflation Reduction Act' are really hurting the nation as a whole.

As bad as these numbers released today are, they will get worse in future revisions (like they always do with this administration).

Team Trump will be pounding Harris with these horrible jobs numbers. President Trump, if you’re out there in FReeper land, stay focused on the horrible Biden/Harris economy and the debacle at the border. Don’t allow them to draw you into anything else. ECONOMY and BORDER.

Man, you think they’d have somehow been able to fudge the numbers or something.

From what I’ve been reading, it looks like the jobs that are being created are going to foreigners.

Unexpected? Maybe this month.

Intel just announced 19,000 job cuts. That is gonna leave a mark.

But the Fed will cut rates six weeks before the election, so that’ll fix everything.

Recessions are normal, periodic and necessary in market economies. The attempts to stop them from happening just cause them to be deeper.

while the unemployment rate unexpectedly rose to the highest level in nearly three years.

It would only be unexpected by me if it fell under Bidon-omics.
