CNN busted Trump running mate pick Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) over unearthed recordings in which he refers to childless people as “sociopaths” and “psychotic” amid outrage over similar comments.
Vance has faced outrage this week over a 2021 interview that went viral, in which Vance derided “childless cat ladies” who “don’t really have a direct stake in” the country.
In an interview with Fox News, Vance claimed critics were “aggressively lying” about what he said and that his remarks were “radically taken this out of context.”
But on Tuesday’s edition of CNN News Central, anchor John Berman ran down a fresh set of “context” unearthed by KFile’s Andrew Kaczynski:
SARA SIDNER: (story tease).
Not just childless cat ladies. Turns out there are many more ways Trump’s running mate has described people without children. The word sociopath used a lot.
JOHN BERMAN: Brand new this morning. More than childless cat ladies. Way more new reporting from CNN’s KFile this morning on Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance.
The controversial comments he made questioning the judgment of people without children– they were not a one off. In May of 2019, he told the crowd, quote, “Babies are good because we’re not sociopaths.”
JD VANCE: I’ve seen people who become more attached to their communities, to their families, to their country, because they have children.
So I would say that we should care about declining fertility, not just because it’s bad for our economy, but because we think babies are good– and we think babies are good because we’re not sociopaths.
JOHN BERMAN: Then, in November of 2020, during a podcast appearance, he said this.
JD VANCE: There is just these basic cadences of life that I think are really powerful and really, really valuable when you have kids in your life.
And the fact that so many people, especially in America’s leadership class, just don’t have that in their lives.
You know, I worry that it makes people more sociopathic and ultimately our whole country a little bit less, less mentally stable.
And of course, you talk about going on Twitter. Final point I’ll make is you go on Twitter, and almost always, the people who are most deranged and most psychotic are people who don’t have kids at all.
JOHN BERMAN: In August of 2021, in a fundraising email, CNN found he appealed to donors by mentioning the, quote, “radical, childless leaders in this country.”.
And then he tweeted in 2021, quote, “Cat ladies must be stopped.”
It is obvious that the vetting of Vance was surface-deep. The ongoing release of these attacks on the childless (even if you re-cast them as championing childbirth) is taking the focus from Harris and letting her momentum increase unabated.
should have picked Rubio...this guy wasn’t vetted.
Don’t buy this horse sh*t from the media. There is nothing wrong or, gasp!, “intolerant” in anything he said. More importantly, he is right, and saying what people have innately known and understood forever.
Or something else he would have said. No winning with news media.
“Babies are good because we’re not sociopaths.”
True statement; babies are good.
Also, there is nothing wrong in saying “we’re” not sociopaths. Few people claim to be sociopaths.
Vance did not say Kamala or her supporters were sociopaths. I have no idea why democrats think people suspect them of being sociopaths.
He’s not wrong.
Some people don’t have kids and they’re upright folks.
But there’s a population of people who don’t have kids and the animal crackers in their little box are broken.
I am not going to refuse to vote for Trump because of things Vance said. I am not a thin skinned, Leftist Millenial, crybaby female.
Being childless was not a choice we made, and I wish Vance had been more circumspect. That being said, I doubt that CNN is being honest about Vance’s comments and is putting words in his mouth. Taking what CNN says at face value is a mistake
Vance makes some valid points about those that live only for themselves, which is their right to do, but we also have a right to call them out on their narcissism.
...because they know that they (Left) are more sociopathic than most.
I think a reasonable compromise is requiring children to be permitted to vote.
Thanks for the smile, brother.
No. In the 2016 debates Rubio said from the stage he supported making 18 year-old girls register for the draft.
Rubio needs to stay in the Senate until someone better comes along. As a Senator he can just coast along with the other RINOs
A fart in the wind, the always offended were not voting for Trump anyway
Listen to the song “I’ve never been to me” by various artists. It is a very emotional explanation of what Vance is inartfully saying. Juu
Is this all they got? LOL!!!
Some FReepers are heading for the tall grass. Vance is the finest choice that Trump ever made.
JD is great.
Nothing they can print will make him seem as ridiculous as the buffoon Harris.
They really, really hate this guy.....
I will wager the rent money they do not do the same intense background on whatever the Spitter chooses to run with..............
JD is not WRONG. Lean into that...
