In reality, they would have been reclining around a long table/platform about a foot tall, and no chairs...................

There are a number of Last Suppers by Renaissance masters, many of them in Florence. The table arrangement is an artistic convention used by all. Most of them are found in refectories btw, as is da Vinci’s.
