I totally get where Atwood thought she was going with this, and I’ve loved her stories since I was a teen.

But, this one is Must Read as a WARNING as to what Mother Government (or any Totalitarian Regime) can do to YOU whenever she wants to.

Atwood is no Conservative as far as I know, but she inadvertently nails Socialists in every one of her books. And they’re always the Bad Guys. ;)

I read the book, too, when it was first published. It was a great piece of dystopian fiction. I read it a few times.

I never watched the TV series. From what I can tell, the TV series seems to have changed the plot and missed the whole point of the original story.

I've only read her story, Rape Fantasies, and her poem You Fit Into Me. She has said her writings are not feminist, and criticized some feminists and #metoo. But she says a lot of other things, too.
