Looks like you are talking about a different incident. I was referencing the 1992 incident in New Mexico. She was hospitalized inpatient for more than a week the injuries were so severe.
The media portrayed that as someone who just negligently spilled coffee on herself and frivolously sued because it was “hot”... Even if she was careless to an extent, a restaurant should probably not be handing something out that is so hot as to be potentially lethal.
Sounds more like a MURDER to me..
“Until it’s just right.”
I always do that even at home.
Never just jump in the shower. Learned that early.
Can I sue too? Was at a Kentucky hotel a couple of weeks ago and no hot water. I could have Froze to death waiting for it to get lukewarm
Bussed tables for a tyrant at York Steakhouse. He said if it wasnt hot enough to scald it was t enough to clean with. We cleaned tables with 140 deg water. Nothing else. I cringe everytime I see my table cleaned with a wipe.

140 min or die. Thats the health people.
The safety people don’t care if you die so long as you don’t get hurt.
A decent motel or nice house should have a hot water circulator that keeps the hot water right at there all the time.
Usually for the least I would do would be to step out of a hot shower.
That’s me though...
Reminds me of the people that leaped into a pool of water at Yellowstone. The one with all of the signs around it.
I believe AI could be involved, yes.
Like Stella Liebeck.
"I was in a shower with scalding water on my feet," said Abbott, who is paralyzed from the waist down and uses a wheelchair. "Because of my paralysis, I couldn't feel the burns that were taking place, and as a consequence, it was like having my feet in scalding water for several minutes. And it resulted in third-degree burns to my feet."The real story was that he could not tell he was being burned for two minutes because he was paralyzed and couldn't feel it.
So maybe not an idiot.
A story of a motel with hot water is newsworthy.
I am sorry for the victim.
We’ve got that feature in our house and it’s really nice. I haven’t seen many motels with that, especially for $70/night.
I wan to see toxicology reports of the victim....
If you don’t check the temperature of the water before you step into the shower, that’s on you, 100%.
And those same people are the ones who ride bison 🦬 because they’re too dumb to realize how dangerous they are.
$2 Million for a horrible horrible death? The woman who falsely accused pres Trump of molesting her got $82 million for crying out loud-
I’ll never forget when I was a little kid that the old man, Mr Abernathy, who owned the farm across the lane from us was felling trees but couldn’t get away from one fast enough and it killed him.
The final trial order, entered by the court on July 11, gave Chronis’ estate $1,271,486.60 to cover medical expenses, $16,058.73 for funeral expenses, $250,000 for pain and suffering, and $500,000 for punitive damages. The defense was given 30 days to file an appeal.
The defense claimed Chronis didn’t even stay at the motel, said Blankenship. Attorneys for the defense declined to comment, citing the pending appeal.
Part of defense is more people than registered?
