My synopsis on your reply should be satisfactory. But I simply don’t want to use the term “2nd chosen”. Likely I didn’t understand your use of the phrase.

AGREED: In Romans 9 Paul clarifies that the true Israel is comprised of those who put their faith in God justifying them. The physical Israel is not necessarily the same as the spiritual Israel. Many in the physical Israel rejected God.

Also AGREED: But it is true that God has never said that a physical people is His own except for the descendants of Abraham through Isaac. Yet even those were able to reject their place as God’s chosen people, and God has also grafted into the vine those who have become His through faith in Christ.

Still AGREE: Ultimately God wants us to all be His through Christ. Both Jews and Gentiles. Both Jews and Gentiles can reject that.

In the end...AGREE: I do believe that God has greatly blessed us in America and that if we who bear His name repent, humble ourselves, seek His face, and pray, He will forgive us and heal the land in which we live.

It seems we’re in agreement then. =)

It was somebody else who posted the “2nd chosen” comment.

I do think that the world understands that the USA was built on the Judeo-Christian worldview, and the freedoms and successes we’ve had are the fruit of that - at least in the past before the society fell apart. As with the nation of Israel, I think God shows the world His Law and Gospel by the way He deals with those who either obey Him or fall away. His redemption is a beautiful thing to behold, and I hope and pray that it will be seen clearly through all of us. Including Trump.

It is interesting to me that Richard Dawkins (if I’m remembering this correctly) is an atheist but he says he thinks that Christianity makes the world a better place. If it’s not too late (I don’t remember hearing that he’s died yet), I hope he considers why that is - that such fallen creatures as us would somehow have strength and love that is beyond what we as just normal human beings would otherwise have.

I am really, really enjoying Tucker Carlson. The newness of his faith is so infectious. I see so many reasons to believe that God is working in individual lives and that He can conduct all these little handbells (us) to make a beautiful symphony that brings joy, beauty, and love to everyone who sees or hears it - including His original people, the people of Israel.
