Donald Trump Breaks His Record in New Poll
Newsweek ^ | 7/17/2024 | Kaitlin Lewis

Posted on 07/18/2024 6:24:05 AM PDT by simpson96

A record number of Americans believe that former President Donald Trump is going to beat President Joe Biden in November.

In a poll released Wednesday by The Economist and YouGov, 49 percent of U.S. adults said that they think Trump would win the 2024 presidential election with him as the Republican nominee and Biden as the Democrats' pick.

A spokesperson for YouGov confirmed with Newsweek that the recent poll result is the highest number of support Trump has received when compared to past surveys where participants were asked who they viewed as the likely next president. Last week's poll found that 48 percent of adults anticipated that Trump would be reelected, while 29 percent picked Biden.

In the last survey conducted by the Economist/YouGov before the June 27 presidential debate, 41 percent of participants said they believed Trump would win, compared to the 32 percent who selected Biden.

“They know they are in big big trouble.”

************

They are more worried about losing control than being in big trouble. Democrats know full well that Republicans don’t go after people and hold them accountable. The R’s talk a good game, but its all just empty rhetoric and bluster. The Democrats have little to fear other than losing influence over the direction of the country. JMHO

“But we cannot forget that it didn’t take the party long to throw away Ronald Regan’s playbook and principles either.”

It feels different than GHWB. The young people there were conservative. Not a bushie, or an old GOP fossil to be seen. You are right though, we can not let our guard down.

“The rinos are still there, now they have to be forever dismissed.”

************

They are deceitful and will resist Trump at every turn, just like they did under super RINOs McConnell and Ryan (who I bet are crying right about now).

BTW just noticed that in my haste to post I misspelled ‘Regan’. My bad, I should have written ‘Ronaldus Magnus’. ;)

Exactly right. Economist is notoriously liberal.

“They” are reluctant to put Trump “the Great” above 50% because that kills all hope and causes mental anxiety.

Agree that the political dynamics are seemingly different this time. Permanent change will depend to a large degree on how effective we can be in retiring lots of RINO’s that still infect the party.

On a second look, I think I prefer “Donald the Great” to “Trump the Great”. Which sounds better to you?

The lesson about gop abandoning Reagan is apt, but the difference might be, VP Vance instead of VP GHWBush to follow on.

They want Biden out. They want Harris to be gone from the picture moving forward. They realize they can't win at this point.

The obvious solution: Force Biden out, Harris loses huge and is politically dead, attack Trump relentlessly for four years and get every cheat in place to win in 2028 with some new loser.

A poll of who people thinks will win is not a poll of support.

This is bogus.

I have seen only one proper poll after the gunshot. It showed Trump +2% nationally. This is nearly no change from pre gunshot.

And it is nowhere near enough to drive Biden out.

The electoral college is what matters.

A 2% popular vote lead for a Republican these days would be an electoral college rout.

That translates into a 5% or higher lead in the 49 states other than California.

Evwryone thought Trump would win last time. Even the dems didnt think he had a chance. then he was accused of sex assault and many wrote him off. Trump got more votes in the primary than any sitting president ever and no one challenged him. His populariry was off the charts, even Biden was suprised. This isnt a first. All the betting folks had Trump winning.
