Florida's House Bill 621 went into effect on July 1, making property theft a quicker process for police to enforce and also allows law enforcement to immediately remove a squatter from a property.

Squatting in Florida is fast becoming a thing of the past......why are other states not adopting this model? 🤷

Awesome. Now they need a law requiring local government to notify a property owner of any prospective change in title.

One of the key responsibilities of government is to protect property. This kind of crap has to stop.

Florida probably has a disproportionately large fraction of real estate that is only seasonally occupied. Florida can be brutal in summer. There are a lot of snowbirds who have second homes in Florida for the winter.

Yes, but a substantial downgrade in accommodations and extremely limited meal selection.

According to the article he wasn’t a squatter. He’s a thief.

He’ll be assigned a job...mopping the jail/prison three or four times a day, kitchen duty, laundry, picking up trash on the roadside. And the new guy is always the target for fun and games of all sorts.

“So he gets more free room and board as his reward?”

Well,it’s not exactly a death penalty offense.

I served 5 years in my church’s prison ministry and spent time in no less than 6 Florida state prison facilities.....it ain’t exactly the Holiday Inn. 😏

No kidding. I believe a small segment of these people are doing it for this purpose. The ones who are already accustomed to living in prison.

I have had a little prison food during my pro-life direct action days. I was lucky. It was "Mexican Fiesta" night. Some sort of TV dinner burrito and rice. What I could not deal with was the coffee. Easily the worst coffee in my life, and I grew up during the bad coffee era in the U.S. (Chase and Sanborn, Yuban, Chock Full of Nuts, Hills Brothers, etc. largely instant)

First stop is always an “RMC” state receiving and medical facility to be evaluated mentally, physically and go through orientation for what to expect of prison life......he’ll more than likely end up at a facility over there by you somewhere.
