STANTON COUNTY, Iowa (KCAU) — A South Dakota man was cited after driving 118 mph in a 65 mph zone in northeast Nebraska.
On Sunday afternoon just after 1 p.m., a deputy for the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office clocked a car going 118 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to a Stanton County Sheriff’s Office press release. The incident happened on Highway 57 about 12 miles south of Stanton.
Authorities reported the driver, Ariz Zarate-Gonzalez, 19, of Arlington, S.D., told the deputy that stopped him that he was in a hurry to get home, but first needed to make a pit stop at Raising Canes to get chicken strips.
The sheriff’s office wants to remind the community that they take speeding violations seriously and discourage everyone from “driving foolishly and putting innocent people at unwarranted risk.”

I just ate there yesterday. Mine is only 2 miles away from home so a nice leisurely drive got me there.
I asked them once what was in their sauce and they looked at me like I asked for state’s secrets.
It really is good.
At some point, speeds like this leave the realm of a simple traffic ticket and begin to amount to reckless conduct. I would have arrested the guy and charged him with a more serious offense.

There’s nothing humorous about twice the speed limit.
If he got only a speeding citation, he got off very easy. He should have gotten a ride to the county jail.
A man’s got to have enthusiasms.
