Seventy years ago Oakland was a thriving community. It had a good paper in the Oakland Tribune. Its black community could take pride in McClymonds High which gave us Bill Russell, Frank Robinson, Vada Pinson. It had a rather funky downtown. There were mixed settlements out East 14th St. to Fruitvale. There was a kind of laissez faire approach to inter- and intra-racial coexistence. It was a hard working middle class environment. Then along came Lyndon Johnson and the destruction of the Black family. It took a little more than fifty years to destroy Oakland, and the civil humpty-dumpty that was will never again coalesce.
Isn’t self defense illegal in Cali? Someone might get offended.
More than 168? That’s every hour on the hour. Senior citizens are safer going out on the half hour.
